Hawks trade swingman Kevin Huerter to Kings

Sacramento sends veterans Justin Holiday and Moe Harkless to Atlanta for Kevin Huerter.

Former Hawks guard Kevin Huerter will play the 2022-23 season with the Sacramento Kings.

The Atlanta Hawks have traded Kevin Huerter to the Sacramento Kings in exchange for Justin Holiday, Moe Harkless and a future first-round pick.

Kings receive:

• Kevin Huerter

Hawks receive:

• Justin Holiday
• Moe Harkless
• Future first-round pick

ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski reports the first-round pick headed to Atlanta is lottery-protected in 2024, top-12 in 2025 and top-10 in 2026.

Huerter averaged 11.4 points per game in four seasons with Atlanta after being selected by the Hawks with the No. 19 pick in the 2018 draft. He was a starter for the overwhelming majority of his time in Atlanta.

But a trade seemed likely after the Hawks added guard Dejounte Murray in a trade with San Antonio, creating a backcourt pairing of young All-Stars — Murray and Trae Young.

Holiday spent 26 games with the Hawks in the 2015-16 season and averaged 8.3 ppg for the Kings this past season. He reunites with his brother, Aaron Holiday, signed a reported 1-year deal with Atlanta today.

Harkless averaged 4.6 ppg for Sacramento last season.
