The Too Much TV Roundup- 05/27/23

Not aware of any major TV news, except I noticed that Apple is still calling this coming episode of Ted Lasso a Season 3 finale. Jason Sudekis has been pretty clear that this is the final season. I don’t know what the disconnect is. It also seems like with Ted likely moving home, and the rest of the cast living in the UK, if there was a Season 4, they’d have to dump the entire British Cast and follow Ted at a new team, or dump the title character, both decisions that could ruin a good thing.

8) Great Expectations (Hulu)

English Audio Description?: Yes

Status: limited Series

As Pip’s life moves forward, and really the book in general, I’ve realized how dark this shit is, and the luster it had in the beginning when it felt like anything was possible is now gone. yes, I never read the book, but this series is making me glad I didn’t with each passing episode. Episode 5 was darker than 4, and slower. I can’t imagine the next one.

Episode Grade: C+

7) The Golden Girls (Hulu)

English Audio Description?: Yes

Status: Ended

in the Season 6 premiere, Blanche’s daughter is having a baby. I think the funniest part was Rose not understanding who to call. That, and the screaming lady in the background.

I thought it was time for the Cowboys to exit, and they did. but after her sad cover of Stitches, I would have cut Ali over The Betsy’s. Stitches? Girl, bye.

5) The Last Thing he Told Me (Apple Plus)

English Audio Description?: Yes

Status: Limited?

Jennifer Garner is still unraveling the mystery left behind by her husband. The trip to Austin might not have been the most fruitful, as it still seems like she has no idea what’s going on.

Episode Grade: B+

4) The Big Door Prize (Apple Plus)

English Audio Description?: Yes

Chris O’Dowd plays a teacher in this show where some machine lands in a small town, and tells people what their possibility is. If it wasn’t for the possibility that these people are getting shitty answers, I’d be out faster than a house fire. But the pilot at least stayed on the side of bullshit, as he discovered a discarded card that said liar, and his own card was underwhelming. And you’re telling me all these people are giving their social security numbers to a random machine? They deserve what they get.

Episode Grade: A-

3) American Auto (NBC/Peacock)

English Audio Description?: Yes

Status: Not Yet Renewed

In the season 2 finale, they saved the company, and seemingly Katherine’s job. But without a Season 3 renewal yet, maybe not themselves.

Episode Grade: A

2) Class Of 07 (Amazon)

English Audio Description?: Yes

Status: unknown

After finding the nun, turns out she was rather helpful in getting these women to deal with their shit. Lots of character development, and everyone experienced food poisoning at the same time. So that was fun. Oh, and that ending. The next episode should be mind blowing.

Episode Grade: A

1) Unstable (Netflix)

English Audio Description?: Yes

Status: Renewed

I’m loving this Rob Lowe sitcom. I loved when he did The Grinder and I was sad to see that go. He works really well in these roles, and his oddities fuel this show. The best bit was the guy waiting half the episode for a date, only to find out that they were “incompatible”, because his date thinks their boss (who he is obsessed with) is a bit much. “Too many red flags.” hah.

Episode Grade: A
