Oscars 2024: 20 Insanely Early Predictions

Believe it or not, the Mission: Impossible franchise hasn't ever received an Oscar nomination - not even for its editing or sound design. But that seems highly likely to change with the upcoming seventh film, Dead Reckoning - Part 1.

It's a bit of a spitball prediction perhaps, but given the phenomenal success of Top Gun: Maverick and how well-received Mission: Impossible - Fallout was, it's a solid bet that the new sequel will receive a nomination for either Best Film Editing or Sound.

After all, BAFTA nominated Fallout for Best Sound, and from what we've seen of Dead Reckoning: Part 1 so far, it looks like a technically astonishing achievement.

Hell, with this year's Oscars seeing two major blockbuster films nominated for Best Picture - Maverick and Avatar: The Way of Water - don't discount it entirely out of the big one, either.

If it ends up with zero nominations, it'd be a genuine surprise.
