Miriam Rose Weinstein was the 63rd President of the United States (2121-2129). A Progressive lawyer from Florida, Weinstein worked her way up the ladder of Georgia state politics, eventually becoming governor of that state. She was elected vice president under Estela La Riva 2104 and was re-elected Governor of Georgia 2 years after La Riva's defeat in 2108. Weinstein remained a popular figure in Progressive politics and ran in her own right for the Presidency in 2121, where her reputation as a moderate Progressive proved an asset. Her otherwise successful Presidency was beset by a series of patronage scandals in her second term that damaged her otherwise popular reputation. However, she is still remembered fondly by most Americans.

Colonial Policy[]

Weinstein was the first President to make a sincere push for colonial integration, calling for the inclusion of several Lunar territories as states in the Union. Congress narrowly passed an authorization package that established a vote for statehood in the Lunar territories, but the final votes for admission to the Union were blocked by the Conservatives and the MLP.
