Ming Fan 「明帆」 is the head disciple of Qing Jing Peak, and first disciple of Shen Qingqiu.[2] He was the main bully who was devoted to make Luo Binghe's life within the sect miserable.
Appearance & Personality[]
Ming Fan has the appearance of a youth around sixteen years of age. He is tall, thin and is of average appearance, with a sharp mouth and thin cheeks.[1]
Ming Fan has relatively short hair (compared to others, at least), which is tied back in a ponytail. He has a square face, which usually has a haughty or sneering expression.[3] He is often found hunching his shoulders. His robes are slightly more elaborate than the standard male disciple's Qing Jing peak robes, possibly to indicate his role as head disciple, or possibly just because the animators wanted him to stand out as a character.
Ming Fan is still tall and has an average appearance as an adult. However, his square face went away.[3]
Personality[]
Ming Fan is a typical lackey-type character. He is extremely deferential and respectful to Shen Qingqiu, and is usually in charge of carrying out his (Shen Jiu's) dirty tasks[1] and general matters as long as they weren't related to Luo Binghe.[4] Because of this, even Shen Qingqiu of Scum Villain's Self-Saving System found him reliable.[5]
He often rallies other Qing Jing disciples to bully Luo Binghe.[6] He is quick to search for praise from Shen Qingqiu whenever he does a particularly brutal job of torturing Luo Binghe.[1]
He constantly tries to garner Ning Yingying's favor, and is frequently jealous that she prefers Luo Binghe's company.[6] As expected, Ming Fan's bad moods' are usually taken out on Luo Binghe.[7] The narrator of the web novel describes him as "a rich young master, and spoiled rotten".[5]
Abilities & Equipment[]
Ming Fan is shown wielding a sword, however only for a short moment. He had also taken Shen Qingqiu's teachings to heart, and is adequate with his ability.[8]
Background[]
Ming Fan comes from a more noble family than Luo Binghe.[5]
Ming Fan’s family visits him regularly, bringing him many high-quality items and interesting little things as gifts.[9] Because of this, he can quickly discern between real and fake jade, and tries to win over Ning Yingying with items gifted to him by his family.[6]
At some point after Luo Binghe arrived at Qing Jing Peak, and before Shen Yuan's transmigration, Ming Fan had given him a fake cultivation manual which Shen Qingqiu gave to Ming Fan in order to intentionally sabotage Luo Binghe.[10]
Etymology[]
The name Ming Fan (明帆) breaks down into bright (明) and gallop (帆).

- Ming Fan's family grows high-quality leaves that would sometimes be sent to Shen Qingqiu.[11]
- It's implied that Ming Fan had taken part in having Bai Zhan Peak disciples bully Luo Binghe.[12]
