Some celebrity marriages might last a lifetime. Other celebrities who have been married for years might end up getting divorced for a variety of reasons.

When Tom Cruise and Mimi Rogers parted ways they had only been married for three years. According to Nicki Swift, former Scientologist Marty Rathbun has apparently claimed he helped in ending Cruise and Rogers' marriage, as well as helping to break up Cruise and Nicole Kidman's marriage.

"Both women got cold on [Scientology head David] Miscavige. He was integral to the breakup of the marriages." Reportedly, Rogers is the person who first introduced the Interview with the Vampire actor to Scientology, which he currently practices.

However, the Lost in Space actor has claimed a completely different religion was the reason for the couple's divorce. Rogers no longer practices Scientology.

A few years after their marriage ended, Rogers opened up about the supposed real reason the couple's marriage ended.

According to eonline.com, Rogers opened up to Playboy about why her marriage to Tom Cruise didn't work out.

When Rogers was asked about the reason for their divorce, she responded, "Is that the story, that I was bored with that child and threw him over, chewed him up and spat him out? Well, here's the real story."

The Austin Powers: International Man of Mystery actor continued, "Tom was seriously thinking of becoming a monk. At least for that period of time, it looked as though the marriage wouldn't fit into his overall spiritual need. And he thought he had to be celibate to maintain the purity of his instrument."

She has also discussed other rumors that concerned the couple. "The stardom wasn't really a problem. What did annoy me, though, was the age thing. Some of the tabloids brought it up all the time and exaggerated the gap between Tom and me."

Some celebrities have pursued other careers before deciding to pursue a path to stardom through acting, music, reality TV, etc. Before his rise to stardom, it seems Tom Cruise had ambitions to be a Catholic priest.

Reportedly, before the Cocktail actor took an interest in an acting career, he was interested in becoming a Catholic priest.

According to the Daily Mail, Cruise "had a troubled upbringing", which is possibly what led to his interest in becoming a priest.

Father Ric Schneider, who supposedly helped the Risky Business actor with applying to St. Francis Seminary School, told the Daily News, "Tom was instantly hooked. I think he wanted a good education. With his parents going through a divorce, it was tough on him, that's maybe one of the reasons why he came here."

Shane Dempler, who was apparently one of Cruise's close friends while they were at the seminary school, stated, "We thought the priests had a great lifestyle and we were really interested in priesthood."
