Shaquille O'Neal has never approved of Dwight Howard, who was seen as the NBA legend's successor when he first entered the league, but fell short in the end. Both big men started their careers with the Orlando Magic, so they've always been intertwined.

O'Neal, 51, never bites his tongue when criticizing players and the beef against Howard was over the "Superman" nickname.

Howard, 37, started calling himself "Superman" and Shaq did not like it, even saying years later that Giannis Antetokounmpo is the only one who deserves that monicker.

During an appearance on Run It Back with Michelle Beadle, Howard said he's ready to "squash" the "beef" with O'Neal, who has yet to respond.

"For years I said it, I don't have any beef with Shaq," Howard said. "... I want everybody to enjoy life, I don't have no beef with anyone. The 'me and Shaq' thing, I don't know what it is. If we gotta go to dinner, if we gotta come on this show and have a discussion - whatever it is. We gettin' old, man. Let's squash whatever beef we got, whatever it is, and just keep it pushing."

Shaq's apology tour

Shaq's big mouth and over-the-top personality -- often described as a horrible teammate due to his excessive pranks -- has always landed him in trouble.

He recently did an interview with Los Angeles Lakers legend Kareem Abdul-Jabbar and apologized for how he was when they first met.

Abdul-Jabbar, 76, felt shunned when Shaq first joined the Lakers, a result of O'Neal's dad basically brushing off his input.

Shaq held a similar interview with Kobe Bryant years ago and also apologized. Maybe it's time he sits down with Howard and does the same.
