Host of “The Michael Kay Show,” KayRod Cast

Michael Kay is a premier New York sports voice, New York Yankees play-by-play commentator and host of The Michael Kay Show on 98.7 FM ESPN. In 2022, Kay teamed up with World Series Champion Alex Rodriguez to host KayRod Cast, ESPN’s innovative Sunday Night Baseball alternate presentation. KayRod Cast airs on ESPN2 alongside the traditional ESPN game telecast for eight of ESPN’s highest-profile Sunday Night Baseball games.

KayRod Cast emanates from ESPN’s Seaport Studios in New York, N.Y., and features a variety of special guests tied to the game. KayRod Cast is the latest in ESPN’s long, multi-platform history of special viewing presentations dating back to 2006 across its MLB, NBA, College Football, College Basketball, NFL and Little League properties, among others.

An original 2001 member of ESPN New York’s talent lineup, Kay has hosted his award-winning radio show, The Michael Kay Show, since 2002. The afternoon drive show can be heard weekdays from 3-7 p.m. ET with Kay, Don La Greca and Peter Rosenberg on 98.7 FM and simulcast on the YES Network.

Kay has spent three decades as the play-by-play commentator for the New York Yankees, including 10 years on radio and over 20 years as the television voice of the Yankees on YES Network, a role he has held since the network’s launch in 2002. He also hosts the network’s CenterStage with Michael Kay interview show.

The Bronx, N.Y., native was among the 2018 inductees into the New York State Broadcasters Association’s Hall of Fame. Also in 2018, he was named the 11th recipient of the Vin Scully Award for Excellence in Sports Broadcasting from WFUV Radio, the radio station for his alma mater, Fordham University.
