Michael John Bitters, 72, of Harding, peacefully passed away with his wife and daughters surrounding him with love Tuesday, Dec. 7, 2021, at United Methodist Homes Wesley Village, Jenkins Twp.
Born June 17, 1949, in Wilkes-Barre, Mike was the son of the late Wallace and Mary Fetch Bitters.
He graduated from Wyoming Area High School, Class of 1967. He continued his education at Williamsport Area Community College, receiving his journeyman's papers as a maintenance machinist. He worked at several companies, retiring from Inter Metro Industries.
Mike was a devout Catholic and was a member of Church of the Holy Redeemer of Corpus Christi Parish, Harding.
He was a life member of the Hose Company No. 2, Wyoming; a social member of ITLO, Hilldale; and a member of the Moose Lodge, West Pittston. In his younger years he was involved in many other organizations, making friends along with the way.
In addition to his parents, Mike was preceded in death by his grandmother, Suzan Fetch.
Surviving are his wife of 43 years, Brenda Dymond Bitters; his daughters, whom he called his "angels from heaven," Jennifer Fumanti (husband, Rob Fumanti); and Katlyn Bitters; two granddaughters, Lucy and Samantha Fumanti, who he loved to spoil every time he saw them, always getting them treats (vanilla wafers and cheese doodles were a favorite); brother, Wallace Bitters Jr., California; sisters-in-law, Barbara Frederick and her husband, Joseph; and Debra Dymond; brother-in-law, Robert Dymond; several nieces and nephews; his beloved dog, Cammie; as well as his beloved friends, Andy; Dan; Bill; Ernie; Jerry; and many more that he would spend his Tuesday (ITLO) and Thursday (Dominick's) nights with. And many others that he collected from childhood on, too numerous to name.
Mike was always willing to help his friends and family. He often would visit friends, taking them his famous shrimp, kielbasa or wine for the holidays or just because he was thinking about them.
Funeral services were held from Bednarski Funeral Home, 168 Wyoming Ave., Wyoming, with a Mass of Christian Burial in Church of the Holy Redeemer of Corpus Christi Parish, Harding, with the Monsignor John J. Sempa, officiating. Interment was in Mount Zion Cemetery, Harding.
Mike donated to many organizations, each one he felt personally connected with. If you would like to donate in Mike's honor, please donate to an organization that connects with you.
As per the family's request, those attending the viewing and/or funeral mass are required to wear a face covering and observe social distancing.

I have many fond memories of the times I visited with my Uncle Mike, I live in CA. Riding his horse at the stable, catching my first fish with him. He would call me and ask how my Family was doing. Sent a collectible Hess Truck every Christmas to my children. My only Uncle will be truly missed.
