The future of For All Mankind is bright at Apple TV+. It has been officially announced that the series has been renewed for a fifth season at the streaming platform, and better yet, it will be joined by a spinoff series.

The spinoff series, titled Star City, will focus on the Russian space program. Matt Wolpert and Ben Nedivi, who created For All Mankind with Ronald D. Moore, are serving as co-showrunners for Star City. The three also created the new spinoff, and they are executive producing with Maril Davis of Tall Ship Productions. The showrunners teased the direction the spinoff will take in a statement confirming its development.

As For All Mankind returns for Season 4 on Apple TV+, co-creator Ronald D. Moore tells CBR what to expect from the alternate history series.

"Our fascination with the Soviet space program has grown with every season of For All Mankind,” the statement noted. “The more we learned about this secret city in the forests outside Moscow where the Soviet cosmonauts and engineers worked and lived, the more we wanted to tell this story of the other side of the space race. We could not be more excited to continue building out the alternate history universe of For All Mankind with our partners at Apple and Sony.”

Matt Cherniss, head of programming for Apple TV+, added: “With each new season, For All Mankind continues to build out a fascinating world and capture global audiences through high quality storytelling that has been so skillfully developed by Ron, Matt and Ben. For All Mankind Continues Its Run After Debuting in 2019

For All Mankind first launched on Apple TV+ in 2019.
