Michael Cole speaks highly of Corey Graves and believes he has a bright future in WWE.

Michael Cole has been WWE’a lead commentator for many years, and he has also worked closely with the company’s other broadcasters. He has worked with Corey Graves throughout the latter’s transition from wrestling to commentary, and he has watched him grow.

Speaking with Awful Announcing, Michael Cole discussed Corey Graves’ journey up to this point.

“[It was] a matter of giving him the opportunity to sit side by side for many years, to watch, learn, study, and see how I do things,” Cole said. “And at the end of the day, when we gave him the shot? He’s been killing it. I believe he’s the heir apparent.”

Michael Cole On Corey Graves’ Future

Michael Cole went on to note that the company previously had issues with trying to develop commentators to be like him. He then highlighted the opportunity yo develop Corey Graves. Cole then shared his belief that Graves will be the one to replace him, even if it may not be for a few years.

“Corey now has a Corey Graves Voice,” Cole said. “A lot of the issues we had were that we tried to develop commentators to be Michael Cole,” he admitted. “Now we have a chance to develop Corey Graves. I truly, honestly believe he’s going to be the one to replace me. He’s an incredible human being. He has a great opportunity.”

Graves and Wade Barrett were confirmed as the new SmackDown commentary team in February. Cole currently calls the action on RAW with Pat McAfee.

WrestleZone will have coverage of WWE RAW as it airs on Monday.
