Klaus Koenig / Klaus Koenig Jazz Live Trio Night Thoughts CD (2017)
After many years of therapy, the 2012-2013 season with the old/new Jazz Live Trio and the 2013-2014 season with the Seven Things quintet with Dani Schenker, Christoph Merki and the trio meant a return to the music scene. One of the lucky moments in my not always lucky life. This was the case from day one, without any discussion. And I am very, very happy that my two partners, separated from me in age by over a generation, also harmonize so wonderfully with me in this regard. This way of playing might have been the rule in earlier times, but today it falls more within the category of easy listening. In 1998 he had to stop his musical activity due to an illness in both of his hands. Klaus Koenig, jazz pianist and former sound engineer for the Swiss radio station SFR, made numerous recordings with his Jazz Live Trio for TCB Records. And it so goes without saying that in concerts, I never speak of my, but of our trio. ""Since the great Bill Evans, since the early sixties, I can't really imagine the formula 'pianist ...

Stan Getz / Joao Gilberto Getz / Gilberto CD (1997)
Getz/Gilberto , which featured composer Antonio Carlos Jobim on piano, not only yielded the hit "Girl from Ipanema" (sung by Astrud Gilberto, the guitarist's wife, who had no professional experience) but also "Corcovado" ("Quiet Night")--an instant standard, and the definitive version of "Desafinado." Getz/Gilberto spent 96 weeks in the charts and won four Grammys. Getz, with his lyricism, the bittersweet longing in his sound, and his restrained but strong swing, was the perfect fit. It remains one of those rare cases in popular music where commercial success matches artistic merit. In fact, the story goes that Getz had to push for the release of Getz/Gilberto since the company did not want to compete with its own hit; it was a good thing he did. Gilberto in particular was a Stan Getz fan. Originally released in March 1964, this collaboration between saxophonist Stan Getz and guitarist Joo Gilberto came at seemingly the end of the bossa nova craze Getz himself had sparked in 1962 with Jazz Samba , his release with American guitarist Charlie Byrd. His lines, at once decisive and evanescent, focus the rest of the group's performance without overpowering. Jazz Samba remains the only jazz album to reach number one in the pop charts. Bossa nova's "cool" aesthetic--with its understated rhythms, rich harmonies, and slightly detached delivery--had been influenced, in part, by cool jazz.

Django Reinhardt The Classic Early Recordings In Chronogical Order CDs (2000)
Swings Shubert Alley CD music The guitarist's fingers can be heard moving across the fingerboard, and there is a new resonance as he plucks each note. His work is so good that it can literally be said that Reinhardt has never been heard with such presence before. The music on this CD set has been restored from the best available 78 copies, which have been carefully checked for pitch by the sound engineer Ted Kendall. Kendall has cleared away audio rubble and has brought out sounds which haven't been heard since the recordings were made in the studio
