Medieval Movie

Media

Not sure if anyone has posted this before but has anyone seen this movie, it stars Michael Caine and is set in Bohemia a couple of years before KCD, it expands the story of Wenceslas and Sigismund and focuses on a historical Czech hero called Jan Zizka, it's a decent film and worth a watch.

I just finished watching it! I was about to post about it when I saw your post.

My enjoyment of it was mostly derived from the fact that I've played and love KCD. My family was wondering how on earth I knew so much about Bohemian history. There was one scene where the girl walks out of a cave to find a Cuman standing outside, and my immediate instinct is to want to take out a bow and arrow to shoot him. Felt disappointed that it was a movie and not part of the game. Things would've turned out differently. 🤣

Two things the movie added to my KC2 wishlist are crossbows and a quest that involves Jan Zizka. Too cool.

If KC2 displays any of the tactical genius the movie says historical Zizka is said to have, I'll be mind blown. Also, that cart scene reminded me of the movie, Fury.

To me, Medieval is now the prequel to KCD.

I just hope they didn't make the atmosphere so drab and dreary and that it had the color and beauty of the surroundings of KCD. I mean, yeah. Tough stuff happening, with all this war and murder and all, but the trees and grass were still green. The sky was still blue.

I agree, from our point of view of playing KCD, it is a prequel and I also agree that Zizka turning up in KCD 2 would be fantastic.

Imagine a scenario where Toth loses to a strategic plan made by Zizka with Hans and Henry standing witness and helping to pull it off. Toth was one step ahead of them throughout KCD. It would be so satisfying to see someone beat him in a chess game, so to speak.

Yeah, like about ~200 times. Does the movie pick up after the first half hour ? I didnt bother watching further

It does, it's not an Oscar winner but as a fan of KCD it's worth a full watch, add to that Jan Zizka was a phenomenal hero who is a legendary figure in Czech history.

I'd tell you, but I watched it last month and already forgot everything about it.

It was entertaining. The fight scenes had too many cuts and shaky cam stuff for my taste. But the brutality of some of the effects was pretty good. And it was cool to see the main character use something other than a sword.

My favorite part is that the antagonist ties into KCD if you do enough digging to find out that Ulrich was sent by the Rosenbergs to do some snooping

I've just started watching it and immediately was like "I recognise that castle... Hang on, I know that quarry". My love of KCD is making me enjoy it even more

It's no Gladiator or Kingdom of Heaven but decent enough.

Nice story. It was an interesting movie with some strange situations. It had a lot of twists and brutal fighting. It didn't build all the characters deep enough because so many things happened too fast. The real history was explained only a little bit, mostly at the start and at the end. It was more of a moral lesson. The story actually starts 1402.

Couldn't get past the first 30 minutes. Can't get past all the black leather and non historical costumes, why do this when it's all there for the taking. Stop making historical stories look like Lord of the Rings!
