Actor Maury Ginsberg (born 15 July 1970; age 53) played a hippie also named Maury Ginsberg in the Star Trek: Voyager second season episode "Death Wish". As initially written, the character had a different name, but after Ginsberg was cast in the role, episode writers Shawn and Michael Piller opted to use the actor's name for the character.
Besides Voyager, Ginsberg has also appeared on shows such as Murphy Brown, Murder One (working with James Avery, Daniel Benzali, Barbara Bosson, Roy Brocksmith, Shelly Desai, John Fleck, Spencer Garrett, Deborah May, and Kevin Tighe), Melrose Place, Friends, NYPD Blue (starring Gordon Clapp), Sliders (in an episode directed by Paul Lynch and also featuring J.D. Cullum), Without a Trace (starring Enrique Murciano), Joan of Arcadia (with Louise Fletcher and Michael Welch), Law & Order (in an episode with William Sadler), and Law & Order: Special Victims Unit. From 1998 through 1999, he had a recurring role as Kamen on Two Guys, a Girl and a Pizza Place.
His other credits include the TV movies Divas (1995, co-starring Bill Cobbs and Tina Lifford) and Lansky (1999, with Bert Remsen and David Selburg) and the films Where's Marlowe? (1998, starring Erich Anderson, Miguel Ferrer, and Clayton Rohner) and Rocket Science (2007). He also worked on The Ring (2002, featuring Shannon Cochran and Richard Lineback), but his scenes were deleted from the final theatrical release. More recently, Ginsberg worked on The Girl in the Park (2007), as well as playing roles in Jessica Jones and Manifest.
