Report: Matt Vasgersian won't return to ESPN's 'Sunday Night Baseball'

Broadcaster Matt Vasgersian's call of Tuesday night's AL wild-card playoff game will be his last one in ESPN's "Sunday Night Baseball" booth.

The New York Post reports the veteran announcer, who also serves as an MLB Network host and the television voice of the Los Angeles Angels, has decided to step down from his Sunday night responsibilities. 

“I decided to call it a wrap on ‘Sunday Night Baseball,’” Vasgersian, 54, told the Post. “I can’t do everything I enjoy with MLB Network and the Angels, while still being away for nearly 30 weekends a year.” 

Vasgersian just completed his fourth season calling Sunday Night Baseball games with former New York Yankees star Alex Rodriguez. The Post reports ESPN would like to have Rodriguez return next season.

Among the potential replacements for Vasgersian floated by the Post: Boog Sciambi, Karl Ravech, Jason Benetti, Michael Kay, Ryan Ruocco and Dave Flemming.
