Matt Smith struggled with his bags as he landed back in the UK - days after he was spotted with a mystery blonde in LA. 

The Crown heartthrob, 40, opted for an all-black casual outfit, including joggers and a Ralph Lauren cap, as he wheeled his Away luggage through Heathrow Airport. 

But the actor's suitcases toppled off his luggage trolley in the arrivals terminal after flying in from Los Angeles on Thursday.

Matt was forced to stop and pick the bags up from the floor as he tried to sort out his luggage after the long 10-hour flight.

He was listening to music through his AirPods has he picked up his two large suitcases and rucksack and put them back on the trolley.

During his trip to the California city this week, The Crown actor was spotted warmly hugging a mystery blonde while indulging in a smoke break.

He was seen chatting cheerfully with the woman, who cut a leggy figure in a high cut dress with an elaborate baroque print.

With the cigarette still in his hand, Matt wrapped one friendly arm around the woman while keeping the other one in his pocket. 

His own ensemble was classic Los Angeles eveningwear, consisting of a black blazer over a white t-shirt tucked into a pair of dark trousers.

Matt's latest sighting in California comes weeks after he and his ex-girlfriend Lily James were seen enjoying a stroll together in north London.

At the time Lily was at the center of a swirl of rumors that she had just split from her rocker boyfriend Michael Shuman after two years. 

Lily and Matt first became acquainted in 2014 while playing opposite one another in the Jane Austen parody Pride And Prejudice And Zombies.

They struck up a relationship that lasted for about a half-decade until they decided to call it quits near the end of 2019.

Although they were briefly circled by proposal rumors in 2017, Lily told The Sun On Sunday: 'We're not engaged yet. But it's going very well.'

The duo reportedly reignited their romance in May 2020 during the coronavirus lockdowns but broke up again a few months later.

Matt has remained tight-lipped about his love life in recent years, but in 2021 The Mail On Sunday reported he was involved with financier Caroline Brady. 

Meanwhile, since her latest split from Matt, Lily was infamously spotted in October 2020 passionately kissing married actor Dominic West. 

On the professional front, Matt has been fronting the smash hit new Game Of Thrones spin-off House Of The Dragon.

The show has set fans' tongues wagging, in no small part because of Matt's eye-popping sex scenes and his character's bloodcurdling behavior.

In an Esquire interview last year to promote the series, he kept mum about his romantic life but revealed he does hope to become a father.

Matt opined that 'I do think that’s what life is all about in the end. Children. Making a family. You know, when you’re dead, and you’re on the slab, that’s what’ll count.'
