The science center is fine, kids will enjoy the interactive exhibits but we have a great science center here in Pittsburgh and this one seemed less than in comparison. The planetarium show was only ok. The narrator had a great voice and tone for children but as an adult I was somewhat bored. I love science, the sense of discovery and curiosity it can inspire, I just didn't find it here.

We had the worst experience ever at the museum/science center, especially considering it's meant for children. Today, on 01/07/2024, we visited the Maryland Science Center for their Baltimore downtown day. There is an activity on the third floor where kids can push a swinging board with a pen drawing on it.
After two girls in line drew with the pink pen, it was my boy's turn. He asked the staff if he could use a blue pen, which is his favorite color. The staff responded with a very rude voice, saying, 'No, you CANNOT.' We were all shocked, thinking it might be a joke at first. Unfortunately, he meant it, and the little boy couldn't use the color he wanted because the staff wasn't willing to change the pen on the drawing board.
My boy was frightened by the unfriendly voice and wanted to leave. He refused to go back to the third floor because of it. Visiting the Maryland Science Center has been our family's annual event, but not anymore. I suggest that families with kids DO NOT visit this unfriendly place.

The exhibits were good but crowded. However, the bathrooms were dirty and the cafeteria was chaos. There was no seating and our whole school had to sit on the floor which was dirty the plaster was broken on the walls, mold in the walls, the floor was lifting, and cobwebs were everywhere.

We got to Baltimore early on a Saturday morning when nothing else was open yet. With the 9 year old and 3 year old in tow, I thought this place sounded like a good idea. Both of them loved it, and I enjoyed getting to go to the planetarium. There really was exhibits and activities for all age ranges. My only regret is that we weren't able to stay longer. Everything was clean and well maintained and the staff was friendly and helpful.

Great experience for all kids for 12 to 6. There are so many interactive things to do and see. The planetarium was very fun and informative. The only downside is the lack of food options. The cafe is closed so you have limited options. Absolutely worth a visit if you have kids in Baltimore.

Nice exhibits, plenty of space, a lot of different options. Our kids loved the lab space, planetarium show with Sesame Street characters and contraption mechanism in 1st floor. A world map painted was not correct though showing Eastern Europe in Asia.

Really nice place to go with whole the family. We love all the exhibits, especially the interactive ones. Something for everyone here. The activities for the children were great the last time we visited. Looking forward to going back again once things get back to normal. We love taking the family to the inner harbor and seeing the sights.

This is a very hands on museum. I would say most exhibits are geared for kids 5-12ish. We spent good 2.5 hours and probably didn’t see everything, but spent extra time at the Dinos and on the 3rd floor. It’s a bit pricey but most museums are.

What an amazing place! I had 4 children with me, ages ranging from 2 to 13, had to drag every single one of them away from this museum at the end of the day. They loved the planetarium, and were thrilled with "The Sky Above Mr Roger's Neighborhood!" The 3rd floor was the highlight of our entire stay in Baltimore for most of the kids-you can't miss it!
It's difficult to find a place where kids of such a big age range can enjoy themselves, and this is it! From the water play center, to the submarines, to sending each other messages in magic tubes, every exhibit was clean, well-maintained, and FUN!!! After 2 hours, I finally started trying to drag them out to see the rest of the place, which was also great. I have to say that the other 2 floors were better for the older kids, but even the youngest liked looking at the beautiful displays, and found some areas of interest, such as driving a miniature Mars rover by remote control and playing with a kids computer. I can't say enough about how wonderful this was!

I find a lot of Science Centers are really geared towards kids. I'm 28, would probably go buy myself. Would this still be a good place for me to visit or would I feel weird and out of place in a place that is very kids-centric?

I went with 2 adults and 1 child and we all enjoyed it. It comes down to how invested are you in participating in all the offerings. I did it all and loved it as much as my 12 year old. There is plenty for adults to do and I saw many couples and friends without kids.

Hi, I am planning a trip to Baltimore with two 11 year old boys. Is there something for their age or is this more of a little kid place? I only see little kids in the pictures. We went to the science museum in St. Louis last year and it was great for big kids. I'm hoping this is comparable.

My kids were 7 and 10 when we went and they both had fun. I didn't find this science center to be as interactive as others that we have been to around the country but the kids still enjoyed it. Unless your boys are very interested in science, I would say figure on this being a half day activity.

Do you have to buy the tickets online or are they available on site?

No, you do not have to buy tickets in advance. I think you can order online if you prefer. There are times when there can be a long line, depending on day and time. Hope this helps you.

My 3-year old is the kind of kid whose favorite "toy" is everyday electrical devices - vacuums, fans, air pumps, extension cords, etc. Would he enjoy MSC, or should we wait a few years?

Our grandson will be three in May and loves all mechanical devices and he has a great time there pulling us from one area to another.Great location at the Inner Harbor and if the carousel is working, it is close to the science center and also fun.
