I am 17` Degrees from Mary Stuart Queen of Scots, shouldn't I be royal?

I can only hope, wish, intend that someday the Scottish or English Nobility notices me & my valid family legitimate and TRUE connection (and that I am compensated financially as a result of being "left out for decades!")

Sorry to burst your bubble, but you are not "royal," nor are the millions of us who descend from or connect to anyone who was "royal." Wikipedia defines a "royal family" as, "...the spouse of the reigning monarch, surviving spouses of a deceased monarch, the children, grandchildren, brothers, sisters, and paternal cousins of the reigning monarch, as well as their spouses." Unless you are descended from Sophia, Electress of Hanover you are excluded by act of Parliament  from any claim to the British throne.

Even then, there are several thousand as this 2001 list describes .Only the very closest very  have any entitlement to financing from the British taxpayer.

I love that you are fixated on the distant royal side of your family and hope you are having fun discovering your roots. But as others have said, there are millions of us that have royal descent. Like you, I am descended from James IV (Mary's grandfather). This means nothing as I have no claim to a throne that does not even exist anymore. It's merely something fun that I can share with other family members. If the millions of us were all entitled to compensation, we would break the British taxpayer.

I suppose I am just as intrigued how I am related to my contemporary cousins as I am to Royalty, Nobility and Notables. I am positive cousin Shonda, George and Nelda have committed far fewer atrocities against their fellow man than the least of my historical ancestors.
