More like 3.5 ish. Well-plotted and constructed. Interesting information about the court system back in the burgeoning days of our country. The descriptions of deliveries and difficulties in childbirth seemed accurate and were often quite harrowing. ...more | |

The Lost Boys of London (Bianca Goddard Mysteries, #5):
"I loved this Bianca Goddard mystery as well as all the others Mary Lawrence has penned and I truly hope that more will be written. They portray the atmosphere of Tudor London and Southwark brilliantly. It is probably my favourite time in history and "

“Writers are the most pathetic souls when it comes to expressing their personal feelings. Their personalities are as complex as the characters they have weaved. And in a curious way, without them really knowing it, writers are the sum total of the characters they created in their heads or in their writings. Yes, My Dear Tania; writers are capable of reflecting their characters, even though most of them are determined to be just like your ordinary guy next door.”

“If you get stuck, get away from your desk. Take a walk, take a bath, go to sleep, make a pie, draw, listen to music, meditate, exercise; whatever you do, don't just stick there scowling at the problem. But don't make telephone calls or go to a party; if you do, other people's words will pour in where your lost words should be. Open a gap for them, create a space. Be patient.”
