I can really see Mariska’s resemblance to her mother here!

When Mariska was a lot younger she didn’t look a lot like her mom. But as she gets older I see the resemblance more and more.

u/throwawaygrosso avatar

Earlier episodes of SVU I don’t really see it much. These days I see it a lot more. Mariska has always been beautiful, and like fine wine.

u/LDawnBurges avatar

Same! :)

It’s so sweet to see. And I was curious about her sister here so I looked her up. First bunch of pics were of mariska and her sister hugging and basically cuddling. It was absolutely adorable and heartwarming. As a mom, nothing would make me happier than knowing my kids are close even after I’m gone. So I’m happy for Jayne.

You must be blind! Her mom was hot she is maybe kind of cute if that.

u/margotmary avatar

Something tells me you look like a toad.

So I should lie & say she's just as good looking as her mom? I know the Internet is full of liars. But I don't need to be one just to make you feel better.

u/margotmary avatar

Get over yourself! This has nothing to do with your perception of how “hot” she is. Jayne is Mariska’s mother. They share DNA. They are going to have similar features. This photo happens to highlight that, and if you don’t see it, then maybe you aren’t looking at her face.

New York, 1953

Have 5 children. Did you know that was the secret of all the great porn stars. They had lots of kids to keep their figures fresh. (/jl)

Serously, 5 kids.

Have someone make one for you, like she probably did.

It's not really that far fetched of a thing to do. It used to be pretty common to make your own clothes, or have someone make them for you.

Bettie Page made her outfits and all her bikinis back in the 50’s when she was a pin up model !

u/AffectionatePoet4586 avatar

I sewed my own clothes right through uni. I could turn a half-yard of fabric into a bikini, and lined it with cut-up sheeting. Good times!

I have got a waist like that, the dress is all I need 😅

Her daughter's name is Jayne

That belt looks painful

15 years before the semitruck trailer protection bar was named after her.

My friend drove trucks for years and I was telling him the story of the accident the other day. He never realized that was why they called it the Mansfield bar until then!

Surprised to actually find that tidbit in the comments.

u/ConstantReader76 avatar

Is that sarcasm? Every time there's a picture of Jayne Mansfield, the comments are full of people who think they're the first person to point out that Mariska is her daughter and to tell the story of how she was killed and that she's why trucks have that bar.

Not at all. I've seen the photos of the accident and it was horrific. I've never read through a comment thread about her until now.

u/ConstantReader76 avatar

Fair enough. I honestly wasn't sure.

I remember reading that she wasn’t a great mother. I think Mariska mentions preferring her father even as a child.

u/AlohaItsKiana avatar

She died at 34 so she didn't get to be a mother for very long. But I imagine she probably spent a lot of time in her career vs. childrearing during that time.

How can she even says that when she was 3 when she died

u/Tryknj99 avatar

She can say that. She can say anything she wants. She’s Mariska Hargitay!

u/wdwerker avatar

Just a vague recollection of something I read years ago. I remember a few incidents from kindergarten and nap time….

Wow, I just looked her up, she was married and divorced three times and had five kids before the age of 34. And somehow found time to become a starlet amongst all that. It’s like she knew she’d have limited time so she packed a lot into her short years.

u/rustofarian avatar

I thought her daughter was named Mariska

u/bubblenciaga avatar

Jayne Mansfield had five children. Her children's names are Jayne Marie Mansfield, Mariska Hargitay, Miklós Hargitay Jr., Zoltán Hargitay, and Tony Cimber. She was married three times. Her first marriage was to Paul Mansfield, with whom she had her daughter Jayne Marie Mansfield. Her second marriage was to Mickey Hargitay, and they had three children together: Mariska Hargitay, Miklós Hargitay Jr., and Zoltán Hargitay. Her third marriage was to Matt Cimber, and they had a son named Tony Cimber.

Believe it or not people can have more than one daughter

u/MagneticGorilla avatar

Amazing

u/Zorro_Returns avatar

Everybody knows that. What's surprising is that she kept her figure.

“I walk like Jayne Mansfield.”

Who else had no idea who they are?

u/Soft_Kitty_Meow avatar

Our foods are different now. Everything is different. I don't think they put the crap in the meat or veggies as we do now. They ate until they weren't hungry anymore, not until they were full. And sizing was so much different. Marilyn was considered a 12/14 at times. I know that women's sizing changes all the time - not just with different brands but the same brand. It's a way for us to buy MORE. It's truly awful the hell we go through about our bodies. We are told what to look like and what is beautiful and hot. Meanwhile, we carry babies, have periods, and have higher body fat. Every woman is beautiful. We were just created by different sets of people. Cancel me for saying this- I don't care.

u/Striking_Forever_453 avatar

Fortunately Mariska has a great amount of class and confidence which makes her equal and better than her mom but for different reasons.  Mariska we love your features on television. They are healthy and you play a great role and advocate for women.  Thanks for all you do for so many. We are happy you lived through the accident. Thank goodness you were in the back seat.  Sincerely, Bill a fan!

You know, that Jayne Mansfield had some big breasts

Some say that’s how she died.

Those aren’t buoys

The posed photo ops back then were ridiculous. That poor child was probably handed off to a nanny 10 mins later.

u/Zorro_Returns avatar

So much for pregnancy ending a career in the nude.

u/Zorro_Returns avatar

So much for the "conventional wisdom" that having even one child ruins your figure. 5 kids. Wow.

u/NYY15TM avatar

Here they come!

amazing how she kept that shape after pregnancy

u/kindquail502 avatar

Not that down votes bother me, but it is rare to see a picture of her when she has them covered up. Just do a Google image search.

I can see who Marilyn was inspired by.

u/bubblenciaga avatar
Edited

Marilyn Monroe was born before Jayne Mansfield. Marilyn in 1926 and Jayne in 1933. I’m confused by this comment?

That can't be Jane Mansfield. Her boobs aren't hanging out.

Don’t be gross

u/ConstantReader76 avatar

She was notorious for setting up wardrobe malfunctions to get publicity. It's not a "gross" comment. She honestly purposely showed off her boobs a lot.
