Marie Elaine Shelton-Tilley
January 15, 1943 - March 23, 2024
Marie Duncan Shelton-Tilley, 81, of Roanoke, went home to be with the Lord, after a long health battle on, Saturday, March 23, 2024. She was preceded in death by her parents, Edward, and Icie Duncan; husbands, Robert "Bobby" Shelton and Jimmy G. Tilley; brother, Charles "Buddy" Duncan; sister, Maxine Duncan Schilling; niece, Alice Schilling Duff; nephews, Calvin Duncan, Donnie Duncan, and Norman "Buck" Schilling; mother-in-law, Alene Anderson Tilley.
Marie is survived by special niece and caregiver, Pat Farris; special great-great niece and caregiver, Tiffany Farris Douglas; nieces Diane Williams, Mary Ann Reynolds (Jason), Jeanne Duncan; stepdaughter, Bridgett Campbell (Steve); step-grandsons, Andrew Parrish and Camden Parrish; special friends, Jerri Thomas (Bill) and James Carter (Jean); as well as numerous other family and friends too numerous to mention.
Marie graduated from Jefferson High School in Roanoke. She worked at A&P Grocery Store until it closed its doors. She was a teller and a customer service representative with SunTrust Banks until retiring in 2002. She absolutely loved interacting with people and working and being with the public.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Rosalind Hills Baptist Church 2712 Brandon Ave SW Roanoke, Virginia 24015.
Services to honor and celebrate her life will be held at 3 p.m. on Sunday, April 28, 2024, in the Chapel of Simpson Funeral Home with Chaplain Seth McCormick officiating. The family will speak to guests following the service.
