As the European Judo Championships reach their climax on the third and final day of individual competition, it's the leading ladies from Israel who are stealing the spotlight in the -78kg and +78kg categories.

Inbar Lanir, the reigning World and IJF Masters Champion from 2023, is determined to secure her podium spot this year. Her track record on the major championship stage speaks for itself, making her a formidable contender. Lanir's previous defeat in the European Championships came at the hands of Alina Boehm from Germany, the defending champion aiming for a hat-trick of titles.

In the Olympic Ranking List (ORL), Lanir holds a slim lead of only 200 points over her closest competitor, the determined Bellandi from Italy, who currently sits in second place. Lanir's victory at the world championships in Doha was a surprise even to herself, yet since then, she has maintained her focus without glancing back. Despite already occupying the top spot on the list, Lanir remains driven to further improve her standing, aiming to accrue more points and create a comfortable buffer in the weeks to come. Her upcoming plans include competing in both the continental and world championships, where strong results could significantly bolster her position.

Boehm faces tough competition from her national rival Anna Maria Wagner, who sits three places ahead in the world ranking list. However, with the seeding positions in their favor, they will avoid facing each other until later in the tournament. Guusje Steenhuis from the Netherlands, boasting impressive performances this year, adds further excitement to the mix.

Another seeded duo to watch out for hails from Ukraine, with Yelyzaveta Lytvynenko and Yuliia Kurchenko making their mark on the continental circuit. France's Audrey Tcheumeo, a four-time European Champion, is eager to reclaim the title despite already securing her Olympic selection.

In the +78kg category, Raz Hershko faces formidable opponents led by Julia Tolofua from France and Lea Fontaine. Portugal's Rochele Nunes and a double entry from Turkey add depth to the competition. The Dutch camp boasts rivalry between Marit Kamps and Karen Stevenson, while Milica Zabic from Serbia eyes a podium finish after her silver medal performance last year.

With national rivalries and emerging talents in the mix, the final day of the European Judo Championships promises thrilling matchups.
