Who were Maria Marten's friends in real life?
I just watched The Ballad of Maria Marten with is a one-act-play written by Beth Flintoff. And it's a play that chooses to highlight Maria's life instead of painting her as the unfortunate victim of The Red Barn Murder. I know that this is a true story; however, I'm curious if any of the friends Flintoff writes are real or fictionalized. I know that Ann Marten, and Maria's lovers were real; however, there's Sarah, Lucy, Theresa, and Phoebe. I've tried searching for information on them because I think they're really cool characters, but I haven't found any evidence to suggest they actually existed. Anybody know more about this?
