Andrew Cuomo is the current governor of New York. He took office in 2011 and is serving his third term. His handling of the coronavirus pandemic in his state has put him in the national spotlight.

The second eldest of five siblings, Cuomo has certainly made his mark during the coronavirus pandemic, with people — and the internet — praising everything from his demeanor to his policies and meme-able daily briefings.

Let's take a look at the "Love Gov's" (his words, not ours) famous family connections.

Mario & Matilda Cuomo

Mario Cuomo was the patriarch of the family and former governor of New York, paving the way for his eldest son, Andrew. He served three terms as governor from 1983 to 1994. Cuomo died in 2015 at the age of 82.

Matilda Raffa Cuomo, the namesake of Gov. Andrew Cuomo's "Matilda's Law" (which protects vulnerable elderly citizens of New York) married Mario Cuomo in 1954, After serving as first lady of New York for over a decade, Matilda was inducted into the National Women's Hall of Fame.

Chris Cuomo

Chris Cuomo is the baby of the bunch and Gov. Cuomo's kid brother. Chris in a CNN anchor and the host of Cuomo Prime Time, a news show where, as of late, Chris has taken to trolling his big brother on national television (siblings, am I right?).

Cristina Cuomo married Chris Cuomo in 2001 and the pair share three children: Bella, Mario and Carolina. Cristina is also an accomplished journalist, and is the founder and editor-in chief of her own magazine, Purist, and former editor-in-chief of Manhattan and Beach magazines.

Kerry Kennedy

That's right! Andrew Cuomo is connected to the political powerhouse family that is the Kennedys. He married Kerry Kennedy, daughter of Robert F. Kennedy and Ethel Skakel, in 1990. The couple split in 2005, but share three daughters: twins Cara and Mariah, 25, and Michaela Kennedy-Cuomo, 22.

Kennedy is the president of the non-profit named for her father, Robert F. Kennedy Human Rights.

Cuomo dated — and made a home with — the Food Network star (and unofficial Cocktail Queen) after meeting her in 2005 at a party in the Hamptons. The pair were together for 14 years, but split in September 2019.

The third-born Cuomo sibling, Maria Cuomo Cole runs Cuomo Cole Films and executive produced the Emmy Award-winning and Academy Award-nominated documentary The Invisible War.

Maria married fashion designer Kenneth Cole in 1987, and the pair share three children. We have to wonder if having a designer in the family is why Gov. Cuomo is always dressed to impress.

The third child of Mario and Matilda Cuomo, Madeline (right, with sister Maria Cuomo Cole) is also the most private of the bunch. She attended Albany Law School and married her high school sweetheart in 1993.
