      Critics Consensus

The material is too thin for feature-length and the jokes are socially outdated and clueless.

steve d Far more offensive than funny. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 03/30/23 Full Review Audience Member A Train Wreck that you can't stop watching, so ridiculous that it's funny Rated 2 out of 5 stars 06/24/20 Full Review Audience Member good movie it makes me laugh and is pretty ridiculous. still like it in 2019 even if jokes are dated. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review Audience Member I was a bit shocked at how corny some of the scenes got. It shocks even more that something like this could get a green light and actually get made. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 02/13/23 Full Review Audience Member Fun, campy movie! I really enjoyed it, every movie does have to be Oscar material! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/24/23 Full Review Read all reviews Post a rating

Wesley Morris Boston Globe Marci X, though, is just clueless and sad, seemingly having missed the point that hip-hop is no longer a novelty to be slapped on the cheek with a white glove. Jul 29, 2014 Full Review Joe Morgenstern Wall Street Journal [it] might better have been called Marci Why. Jul 29, 2014 Full Review Nathan Rabin AV Club Rudnick can be an extraordinarily clever writer, but he doesn't seem to understand that a screenplay has to entail more than a series of skit ideas strung together. Jul 29, 2014 Full Review Jae-Ha Kim Jae-Ha Kim The running theme through "Marci X" is, "You've got to be real." But there's nothing real about the characters in this dismal comedy. Even as a satire, it fails because the filmmakers don't understand the subject they're satirizing. Rated: 1.5/4 Jul 28, 2023 Full Review Micheal Compton Bowling Green Daily News Here's a film that proves no matter how talented the performers, if the script is junk, then the final result will be junk. Nov 16, 2019 Full Review Leah Rozen People Magazine This is a messy disaster at which you can only scratch your head and mutter, "What were they thinking?" Jul 29, 2014 Full Review Read all reviews
