Moonstone Beach (Main Street Merchants Book 1) Kindle Edition
She’s a divorcee who’s struggling to recover. He’s notorious for his reckless ways with women. What could possibly go wrong?
Kate Bennet owns a bookstore in the breathtaking beach town of Cambria, California. Two years out from a divorce that left her emotionally fragile, she’s starting to think that maybe she’s ready for love again—or at least for a fling with a hot man. Jackson Graham is a local chef who’s controlling when it comes to food, careless when it comes to love, and temperamental when it comes to just about everything.
When Kate’s friends set things up between Kate and Jackson, she expects some casual pleasure followed by a hasty goodbye, but Jackson’s long-term crush on Kate means that he’s in this one to win. The problem is, neither he nor Kate knows whether he can change the self-defeating habits that usually send women scurrying for the door.
MOONSTONE BEACH is the first book in the Main Street Merchants series by Linda Seed, but it can be enjoyed as a stand-alone romance, offering an HEA and no cliffhangers. Read the novel readers have called “funny,” “delightful,” and “captivating.”

A ruined reputation. A second chance. A conflict between love and ambition.Genevieve Porter was forced to flee the art world of Manhattan after she blew the whistle on the shady practices of a powerful dealer. Now she owns a small gallery in the scenic beach town of Cambria, California. For Gen, this is a place to regroup; she’s poised to restore her name in the art world and return to New York in triumph. When she meets Ryan Delaney, a cattle rancher who’s more than he appears to be, she’s ready for a sexy roll in the hay—literally. But as her feelings for him become more than casual, she realizes that his roots on the Central Coast go back generations, and it’s going to be a challenge to lure him away from his family’s land. |
She’s finished with men. He’s made it his mission to change her mind.Rose Watkins has never been afraid of anything. She wasn’t afraid to leave home and cross the country on her own at eighteen, she’s not afraid to stand up for herself against judgmental bullies who criticize her unconventional looks, and she’s not afraid to chase her dreams, no matter how elusive they may seem. But after a phony date with doctoral candidate Will Bachman—concocted to help him save his ego in front of an ex-girlfriend—Rose realizes that the possibility of true love is perhaps the scariest thing she’s ever had to face. |
She’s engaged to a man with a promising future. But even as she makes plans to say “I do,” another man is hoping that she won’t….It wasn't easy for Lacy Jordan to watch her best friends get paired off one by one, while she was still single and toiling away at a low-paying job. Maybe that's how she ended up engaged to her mother's chiropractor—a man who looks good on paper, but whose stiff manner and controlling ways leave Lacy cold. When steamy-hot glass artist Daniel Reed rescues Lacy from a dicey situation, she finds herself feeling things for him that she's never felt for another man. But Daniel's reluctance to accept her love—and everything that comes with it—means he's the one who needs an adjustment, before both of their hearts are shattered. |

Kate Bennett is trying to keep the bookstore her Mother started going. It is difficult in this small tourist town. However, Kate keeps trying. Now she has to figure out a catch for the annual Art Walk. She also has to deal with a temperamental worker and her uncaring Dad and his second wife who have come to Cambria to get Kate to sell her Mother’s house and give Dad part of the money. Kate has a very difficult time saying no to him. What will she do?
Kate is also ready to date again after her last breakup. Is she destined to only meet men who are still in love with their ex’s?
Jackson, head chef at Neptune’s, an upscale restaurant in Cambria. He has had a crush on Kate for a long time. Is now the time to ask her out?
I enjoyed this story a lot and although I agree with other reviewers that Kate was too much of a doormat when it came to her father and his obnoxious wife, Angela, I also know that people like those two exist in real life and that it’s not easy to take harsh steps to cut ties with them. Kate wanted the father that existed only in her mind, the father she had always wanted him to be, and so she still hopes he will become that man. She finds out once and for all that he is a selfish man who broke her mother’s heart when he left her for another woman and he will always be out only for number one.
Kate's life takes an exciting turn when two years after her difficult divorce she falls for Jackson Graham, a complex man who is a chef at a local restaurant and who, unbeknownst to her, has had a secret crush on her for years. Her wonderful group of friends push her along and amidst the invasion of her house by her father, his awful wife and their yapping Pomeranian, she manages to find her path to true love with Jackson Graham.
Highly recommended!

What I didn't appreciate was the Jesus, Christ and G**ddamned sprinkled around. The ending was sweet.
