Magdalena Ecke Family YMCA Skate Park
The world famous Magdalena Ecke Family YMCA Skate Park is one of the biggest and most diverse in San Diego County. Our concrete park includes a mixture of transitions and plaza elements. Mini land is perfect for beginners and anyone looking to increase their ability and learn new tricks. The kidney pool, sponsored by Spy, has been considered one of the best of its kind. We are thrilled to see skateboarding included in the Olympic Games and some of our local skate members making team USA! Stop by and come shred with us!
Helmets are required for participants ages 18 and older. Helmets, knee pads and elbow pads are required for all participants under 18 years of age.

OPEN SKATE
Our Open Skate Sessions are a great way to enjoy the park daily! Great for ages 6 and up.
Session Times:
March 13 - October 31
- Monday - Friday: 3:00pm - 7:45pm or dark (whichever comes first)
- Saturday and Sunday: 9:00am - 4:00pm
November 1 - March 11
- Monday - Friday: 3:00pm - 6:00pm
- Saturday and Sunday: 9:00am - 4:00pm

- Skate Park Membership I.D. or Youth Day Waiver Form.
- Parent supervision encouraged

SKATE LESSONS
Lessons begin the first week of every month. Classes are one hour a week and run for a total of four weeks. We offer group, private and semi-private lessons.
GROUP LESSONS

SURF-SKATE
Surf-skate training is the use of a specifically designed skateboard to train surf mechanics on dry land. The use of the surf-skate trainer eliminates variables such as giant swells, crowded lineups, and inconsistent surf while honing in on the skills of the individual. One minute of surf skating can be equal to catching and riding ten waves! It is the closest thing to surfing outside of the water and is a great tool to work on and improve your movement, balance and muscle memory in a fun, exponential way. Participants must have their own safety equipment. Surf skateboards will be provided.
About the coach: Coach Lorenzo is based in Encinitas, California and is known as “The coach that cares”. He is one of the most intuitive and technical surf coaches in San Diego. Lorenzo is one of only a few coaches in California who uses surf-skating as a training tool to improve his students' surfing. Lorenzo has over 40 years of experience training surfers and still loves helping skaters/surfers of every level reach their peak potential. He is supportive and encouraging while coaching his students on the key movements of surfing and/or skating, in order to take them to the next level!

ROLLER SKATE
Learn how to roller skate at the YMCA! Whether you’re learning for the first time or looking to advance your skills, our instructors can help with all your needs. Enjoy private lessons in one-on-one sessions or in semiprivate lessons with a friend to improve your skills. Lessons are available for everyone, ages 5 and up.

Homeschool Skate is back! In these classes, amateur skaters will have the opportunity to improve their skills, learn proper skate park etiquette, make new friends and have fun with other homeschoolers!
