Romy Schneider: Early life of legendary German actress

The actress’s daughter, Romy Schneider, said that her mum would often visit the Nazi dictator at his Bavarian mountainside home where he would seduce her.

She made the shocking comments in an interview with the German reporter Alice Schwarzer in 1976, five years before she died.

More than 40 years later, the journalist has decided to release the interview as part of a documentary called, An Evening with Romy.

Ms Schwarzer said: “Romy was firmly convinced that her mother had a sexual relationship with Hitler.”

During the Second World War, Magda lived with her husband in the Bavarian alps close to Hitler’s retreat in the mountain retreat of Obersalzberg.

High level meetings were often made in the retreat where top officials would also be invited.

The Nazi leader claimed Magda was his favourite actress and would often invite her over to his home.

Romy became emotional in the interview and said she could never forgive her mother for having an intimate relationship with the infamous dictator.

Romy told Ms Schwarzer: “Why shouldn’t I cry? I am no superhuman, I am no longer ashamed.

“Not at all. I am not afraid anymore.”

Romy, like her mother Magda, was also an actress and held both German and French citizenship.

Magda and her husband, the Austrian actor Wolf Albach-Retty, married in 1937 and divorced in 1945.

The shocking interview also revealed that Magda’s second husband, Hans Herbert Blaztzheim, tried to sleep with her multiple times.

Ms Schwarzer said: "I didn't speak of it for decades because I respected her wishes. But in order to understand her despair, her pain, her hyper-sensibility, one has to know this too. And it's good to say it now.

The documentary is set to go live at 10pm on the Franco-German TV network Arte.
