20240312_Signing_MadisonCurry_WN_0014Angel City Football Club today announced that the club has officially signed defender Madison Curry to a one-year contract. Curry was selected as the 51st overall pick in the 2024 NWSL Draft.

“I'm so excited to officially join the team,” said Curry. “I've been here since the draft in January and it means the world to me to be so close to home. I'm a Southern California-native and I couldn't have imagined getting through this time without such a supportive system with the team and the coaching staff. I am really looking forward to what I know this team can accomplish this season.”

“Madi impressively came into our professional environment and never looked back, " stated ACFC General Manager Angela Hucles Mangano. “She's proven that she belongs in a very short period of time, showing versatility and a willingness to do whatever it takes to support our club and win. We are thrilled that Madi is a part of this club.”

A neuroscience major out of Princeton, Curry comes to ACFC with three First Team All-Ivy League selections, as well as being selected to the United Soccer Coaches Third Team All-American and All-East Region Second Team in the 2023 season. As a co-team captain in 2023, Curry played all 200 minutes in the Tigers’ NCAA Tournament appearance and played a role in six of the team’s shutouts throughout the season.

Curry has an impressive resume on the pitch outside of her collegiate career, spending time with the Kansas City Current II and the SoCal Reds FC teams of the Women’s Premier Soccer League (WPSL), earning one goal and six assists during her time in the league. In 2018, she helped the US Soccer Development Academy to a national championship and was named MVP of the National Championship game. In 2016, she earned a U-15 Elite Clubs National League Championship (ECNL) with the Slammers FC out of Costa Mesa, CA.

An Orange County native, Curry was selected to the US Youth Soccer Region 4 Olympic Development Program (ODP) team in 2014, 2015, and 2016, helping them win a US Youth Soccer ODP National Championship in 2016. She also led the Rancho Santa Margarita High School team to a California Interscholastic Federation Championship in 2016 and served as team captain in 2019, earning a 2019 Southern California High School All-Star Team selection and the 46th overall spot in the TopDrawerSoccer Class of 2019 National Rankings.
