Hmmmm. I wanted to love this but I just couldn’t get interested in it. I know Carine is an icon and a legend but I personally don’t find her that interesting of a figure after this. The film doesn’t become engaging enough to truly make you care, the editing is a bit haphazard and there are no big moments that give you that fabulous feeling that you’re seeing behind the scene of the fashion industry. Loved all the Tom Ford stuff though, that orgasmic voice of his *sigh*, and towards the end with some of the classic supermodels during their photo shoots was fun.
An engaging look at the former editor of Vogue during the 10months between her resignation from Vogue Paris, & the launch of the first issue of CR Fashion Book.
She seems so much more real, approachable & down to earth than the forever glacial Anna Wintour!
Less educational than some of the recent fashion documentaries (The September Issue , First Monday in May spring to mind), this is a film about the woman & her individual influence, her essence and impact on the industry; as well as her plans at the time.
Yes it is "fashiony" - you need to have some idea of how collections, magazines & shows work when you watch this because nothing is spelled out, but it's that easy conspiratorial one of the gang feel that makes you feel like you really are getting insight into Roitfeld's life.
Technically, the editing is clumsy and it's overlong, but l'd still class it as a must see for anyone interested in fashion.
Ich habe ja eine Schwäche für Frauen, die weder Kamm noch Bürste benutzen.
Leider ist der Film zu distanzlos, um einmal echte Nähe zur Porträtierten zuzulassen.
You will probably understand more about Carine through actually sitting down with one of her magazines than watching this documentary.
Maybe the worst documentary I've ever seen. Just don't ask me what the 'C' stands for.
A merely superficial glance into the life of Carine Roitfeld which is disappointing because she is much more interesting than her American counterpart, Anna Wintour, and more provocative as well. It's a shame because there is clearly a lot of good material with this film but it was just executed in a cursory manner.
Merely decent documentary about the French Anna Wintour equivalent starting her own fashion magazine in New York.
full of narcissistic, dull, ersatz, self-obsessed, nasty fashion types (easily among the worst groups in modern western society)
mademoiselle C for c*nt, icon, want her life so bad wtfff
however, the way they filmed and edited this docu didn’t do her justice, not very c word at all
