In Baden-Baden, after a large-scale power failure, the emergency call and traffic lights failed.
Around 10,000 people are affected by the failure.
This was announced by the public utilities of the Baden-Württemberg city.
It is therefore unclear when the disruption will be resolved.
"The employees of the municipal utility are working flat out to eliminate the fault," it said in a statement.
Points of contact for emergency calls
The police are on duty at the failed traffic lights to regulate traffic, the SWR reported.
The city has also set up seven contact points for emergency calls in different parts of the city.
The emergency calls would be transmitted by a fire truck, and loudspeaker announcements would also be made.
The failure reportedly happened around 11:15 p.m. late Tuesday evening.
"It is important that all devices that are currently not urgently needed are disconnected from the power supply," said a spokesman for the city of Baden-Baden of the "Südwest-Presse".
