Love Life's first season breezes by on Anna Kendrick's charms, but those looking for a real connection may find its featherweight familiarness frustrating.

Eliana Dockterman TIME Magazine An initial story that cast Anna Kendrick as a plucky young woman finding herself through relationships, and breakups, in New York felt a bit too familiar. Feb 13, 2023 Full Review Lucy Mangan Guardian I could happily binge the entirety of this baby SATC exactly as is. It is the perfect balm for troubled times. Rated: 4/5 Oct 12, 2020 Full Review Carol Midgley Times (UK) It really does get better as it progresses... I don't know how far ahead you have watched, but it maintains its quality and Kendrick is a Rated: 3/5 Oct 8, 2020 Full Review Jason Flatt But Why Tho? A Geek Community Love Life’s first three episodes offer an entertaining, well-acted, sometimes emotionally gripping romantic comedy with plenty of potential in both the season and the concept overall. Jan 23, 2023 Full Review Bill Brioux Brioux.tv The rom-com tackles similar themes to Sex and the City, with Darby surrounded by other young women in various stages of romantic entanglements, but it is less sitcom-y and titilating. Oct 12, 2022 Full Review Mark Meszoros The News-Herald (Willoughby, OH) It's not always easy to love Love Life - one of a handful of HBO Max exclusives that debuted with the new powerhouse streaming service from Warner Media - but, by the end, you at least develop a bit of a crush on it. Ryan K Exploration of relationships that is a mixed bag of good moments and dull moments. What I dislike most about the show is the stilted and unnecessary narration. The writing feels pretty realistic but it is not always the most compelling. There are definitely some good performances, but Anna Kendrick does an uneven job. My favorite episode of the season is one that she is barely in. Overall, the show has some interesting moments but there is better television out there. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 12/29/23 Full Review Toms c Slow dark and well worth the investment of time. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 06/12/23 Full Review Maria L I am almost done with it, and I watched it all in one day. It just had me… I relate to so many aspects. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/01/23 Full Review raphael g Only 65%? I don't get it. It was brilliant. Super well made. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 03/30/23 Full Review Audience Member The this show is very human. It doesn't force a pretty picture on relationships and dating in the modern age. The lead is different in ever relationship she's in, good or bad. Worth a watch for sure, just don't expect a traditional fairytale story arc. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 01/09/23 Full Review Audience Member I don't understand how a "flagship" show from HBO with a A-List star can have such comically bad writing. The first episode of this season was interesting, but beyond that it's a trainwreck. The characters are not remotely believable, their personalities/decisions completely reverse with zero build-up (think Game of Thrones Season 8), and the dialogue is laughable. Which is unfortunate, because the concept is interesting, it's shot well, Anna Kendrick does her innocent giggly thing, and the soundtrack fits. But it feels like it's written by a 12-year old who has never actually lived in NYC or ever dated anyone. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 01/09/23 Full Review Read all reviews Post a rating
