      What to Know

      Critics Consensus

A romantic comedy only in the loosest sense, Love, Weddings & Other Disasters offers a sobering reminder that even stars like Diane Keaton and Jeremy Irons occasionally do unpleasant things to pay the bills.

Shannon H I signed up for rotten tomatoes just to review this movie. I'm so baffled. (Some) Good actors couldn't even save this monstrosity. It's one of those multiple story lines that intertwine through common relationships movies, which would be fine/great/whatever, but this movie just isn't it. For starters, they definitely didn't consult with an actual blind person for Diane Keaton's character. She fumbled everywhere to insinuate blind people can't function in the world. She could've brought such dignity to that character but they chose a clumsy blind troupe instead. And her boyfriend who is weirdly aggressive and it's supposed to be cute? Who shoves a truffle into someone's mouth like that? Awkward. Then the Russian dancer that for some reason played a pretend lawyer to get on a reality show and dropped the lawyer aspect within 10 minutes? And then they go with a fake Russian "pimp". She's not a sex worker but for some reason is on the show to get "free" from this boss? I don't even understand. And then there's the girl who only has one tattoo…a glasses slipper…ON HER NECK. Lol what?? And it's big! And she apparently carries an actual glass slipper to leave behind if she ever does find a guy she likes. Then that guy has to find her? And 100 people draw shows on their neck to prove they're the girl? I'm pretty sure the campaign manager is reading cue cards for her lines. The tender moment with the line "My Bride, three mafia goons, and my brother, and my brother chained to a stripper" really sums up the vibe. Honestly, they should've just gone full campy rather than trying for romcom. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 04/29/23 Full Review Audience Member It is rare that I feel strong enough to actually leave a review, but after watching this on tv, I was so blown away by how contrived, and un-entertaining this movie was, that I immediately signed up for a rotten tomatoes account. Just wow! So bad! Beyond ridiculous and unrealistic...and not even in the name of cute romance because every storyline was uninspired with no chemistry. So sad that Diane Keaton and Jeremy Irons stooped this low. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 02/12/23 Full Review tom m I found it challenging to stay engaged with so many apparent disparate story lines. The Audio Description volume was much louder than the film soundtrack which was very distracting/challenging. The story & dialogue seemed a bit stilted and clumsy. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review Audience Member Dreadful. Awful. On every scale. Waste of time. Not funny. Not clever. Not witty. Not worth it. Irons and Keaton just needed the money. Shameful Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 02/18/23 Full Review katie d Of course, it was not the best movie with mini-stories that turn out to be connected (those are still the ones made by Garry Marshall), and at times it was a little stupid, but it was still entertaining. We were laughing out loud at the physical comedy! I also found it fun that it was filmed in Boston - I even spotted bottles of Bully Boy at the bar! Robbie Collin Daily Telegraph (UK) Disasters: well, they said it. Rated: 1/5 Apr 9, 2021 Full Review Christy Lemire RogerEbert.com Love, Weddings & Other Disasters isn't really a film. It's a slapdash hodgepodge of scenes, hastily sketched, hideously shot, and erratically edited. Rated: 0/4 Dec 4, 2020 Full Review Ty Burr Boston Globe When I lived in New York City in the 1990s, there was a subway ad campaign to raise awareness... that used the tagline "That's Elder Abuse - Any Questions?"
