Tottenham Hotspur are the new laughing stock of the English Premier League, and there are reasons aplenty to call them that. Not only they did they throw away their first place in the table, but Spurs are also out of FA Cup and Europa League despite having an advantage. Their captain, Hugo Lloris, sounded frustrated in the press conference after the Europa League game against Dinamo Zagreb, and Manchester United are tipped to sign the French skipper and shot-stopper in the upcoming summer transfer window.

According to the recent reports, LOSC Lille’s goalkeeper Mike Maignan and Red Devils’ shot-stopper Dean Henderson are preferred to replace the World Cup winner.

"Manchester United could sign Tottenham goalkeeper Hugo Lloris this summer as doubt over the future of David De Gea continues – while Spurs are weighing up Lille’s Mike Maignan as a replacement, reports claim.(Via: Daily Mail)"

Lloris joined the Lilywhites in the summer transfer window of 2012 from Lyon for a fee of €12.6 million, and has remained in north London for nine seasons. During his time with Tottenham Hotspur, though he has failed to win any trophies, he led the team to multiple finals including the Champions League final in 2019. In seven seasons, the player has featured 363 times for his side and has 124 clean sheets to his name. In the ongoing season, he has kept 10 clean sheets in 29 Premier League games.

On the other hand, Manchester United are looking to replace either of their goalkeepers. Dean Henderson is slowly upping the ante at Old Trafford and is looking to sideline David de Gea. Even if Dean Henderson becomes No 1 at Old Trafford, the club can’t afford to keep a high-wage earner like de Gea on the bench. The Spaniard is the highest earner at Manchester United, and possibly in the Premier League, drawing £19.5 million per year as his base salary. The club officials are looking to offload David de Gea at the earliest and are looking at Lloris as a possible solution.

The scouts at Tottenham Hotspur have nothing but praise for Lille’s shot-stopper, Mike Maignan. The former PSG player has featured in all 30 Ligue 1 games and has accumulated 16 clean sheets. The vocal leader at the back has allowed the team to be the front-runners in the mouthwatering title race with PSG. Daniel Levy might have to shell a sum upwards of €20 million to acquire the services of the French goalkeeper.

Should Manchester United sign the 34-year-old player? Or should they keep the Spaniard for one more season? Let us know your opinion!
