The award is named after Lord George Gordon Byron (1788-1824) – a leading figure in the Romantic Movement. He is a world-renowned British poet and has been regarded as among the greatest of English poets of all time.

• Demonstrates advanced thinking skills, is determined in the face of complex tasks, thinks independently and creatively.

The award is named after John Lyon (1514-1592) – the founder of Harrow School. The scholar should have exceptional academic performance in either the British pathway or CNC pathway, be a valid representation of Harrow Values and be able to clearly demonstrate leadership skills.

• Performs at an exceptional level in selected academic fields or achieved extraordinarily in nominated tests

• Demonstrates advanced thinking skills, is determined in the face of complex tasks, thinks independently and creatively

The Shaftesbury Scholarship

10% of Annual Tuition

The award is named after Lord Shaftesbury (1801-1885), Anthony Ashley Cooper, 7th Earl of Shaftesbury who is a famous Harrow alumnus. Shaftsbury was known as the Reforming Lord Shaftesbury and the Poor Man’s Earl, because many of the reforms he championed helped the poor and the working class of Victorian Britain.

What we look for:

• Demonstrate Harrow Values through actions

• Are visible beyond the classroom

• Shows leadership through their actions

• Demonstrates a passion and enthusiasm for holistic education

• Values the role of service in the school and plays an integral part in this

The award is named after The Hill on which Harrow London sits. The school is fondly known in the UK as “Harrow on the Hill”.

• Has shown leadership in the boarding house while a boarding student

As I was honored with the scholarship, my heart was filled with recognition and relief for the hard work I had put in. This honor validated that the relentless effort I had invested over the past year was not in vain. In my studies, I uphold the spirit of rational questioning, seeking deep understanding, and engaging in critical thinking. During this academic year, I pursued numerous goals in music. I achieved distinction in the ABRSM Piano Grade 8 exam in 2023 and am currently preparing for Oboe Grade 6. Serving as the captain of the Astral Atlas Band, I led the team to garner recognition and praise both within and outside the school. Additionally, I seized the opportunity this year to initiate a charity project for rescuing stray animals. From conceptualizing the project to planning and implementing the charity sale event, I was fully involved in organizing and communicating throughout the process, thereby enriching my practical experience and abilities.Behind all these achievements lies the comprehensive support provided by our school, which has helped me realize my self-worth and ideals in various dimensions.

From the Heads’ in-depth explanation of the school's curriculum to an immersive bilingual class experience, you will gain a full understanding of our approach to education! Taster CCA

As an important part of Harrow's holistic education, after a day of academic courses, students are free to choose from a rich and varied range of Co-curricular Activities (CCAs). Whether it's sports, arts, languages or community service, our CCAs are dedicated to providing opportunities for students to discover their passions, develop leadership attributes, broaden their horizons in multiple fields and build lifelong friendships by initiating projects and working in teams.

On the Experience Day, children at Lower School can experience 3D printing, animation production, "waste to treasure" and other interesting CCA. Small interests can also develop into endless possibilities in the future!
