In 2023 the NY Broadway Theater Brooks Atkinson was renamed the Lena Horne Theater. In my review of the "Jamaica" starring Lena Horne I tell of meeting her in 1978. At the end of my conversation with her I asked "if you could sing anywhere in the world that you haven't where would be and with whom. Her answer was the Met Opera with Lucian Pavarotti. I arranged for that as a Benefit for the Joffrey Ballet and included Jimmy Neiderlander as my guest. Following her Gala performance I introduced him to Lena and he offered if she ever wanted to do a solo show on Broadway to call him. A year later she did and this recording was the result. It ran at the Billy Rose for a year, followed by a national tour and ending in London the night of her sixty five birthday She lived to age 92. A truly great person.

Have not heard this music for years. Lucky enough to have been 5th row at the Broadway show. Album tucked away and just never got around to getting the cd. Thankfully I finally did. Listening to Lena is a pure delight, a sensation for the ears and I wish I hadn't waited so long. This CD is for anyone longing for when singers sang songs with words and meaning and melodies...and voices that sang..not screamed. Ms. Horne is a master interpreter of all of her songs. On Yesterday, When I Was Young, you get all her years of living poured into that song and her phrasing and delivery is just stunning. Cannot state how beautiful this CD is to listen to.

I had the privilege of attending the one of the concerts this live version was recorded. Ms. Horne was an excellent interpreter of songs that span decades. Her banter was witty yet made the point of the need for activism. A fun recording that you need to listen to not just hear.

Been almost a year since the great Lena Horne have left us eternally, today we still honor and celebrate her legacy all the time. She almost got the recognition she deserved. This album I first bought on vinyl sometime ago made me realize how I became a dear fan of hers since my introduction to her begin with
An Evening With Lena Horne: Live At The Supper Club
and later NATURE'S BABY. Makes so far my third album I been into her for a while and today its outstanding. I never saw the play yet but will one day, overall I give this entire 2 album set great props with no mess. Legendary been produced by the great and almighty Quincy Jones. Great sound from the orchestra backing her up and great arrangements.

Had this years ago on cassette tapes. I worked nights and fell in love with this album on the long drives home. I still enjoy listening to it best in the dark of night! Funny and insightful and downright great music. Ms Horn was and is sooo much more than 'Stormy Weather"! It's a favorite!

What a gift! What a National Treasure. Lena Horne weaves her life's journey into her music with a powerful, sultry and silky voice. Trials and tribulations, disappointment, rejection, blatant racism and insult only served to refine her craft, sharpen her poise and fortify her determination toward excellence. Her humor, her emotion, her grit and her gentle loving embrace of the music, formed by the relentless pressure of life, shines like a beautiful diamond emerging from the earth, brilliant, mesmerizing and sparkling. She sings gloriously, with triumphant freedom, transporting us while touching hearts with healing power. An amazing woman, amazing music, amazing cast, amazing orchestra!

I took my parents to Ms. Horne's concert in New York as a surprise. My Dad was a jazz musician in the 1940's so both of them thoroughly enjoyed her performance. May my Dad and Ms. Horne rest in peace.

I decided to purchase this CD after reading a biography about Ms. Horne. The superb talent and musicality of this gifted performer shines through, even though I'm only listening to her fabulous voice. The singers and musicians of today could learn volumes about what is class, showmanship and true talent from Ms. Horne and her contemporaries.
