I live in Florida but am co-host for my daughter's baby shower. The other host who lives in St. Paul, has delegated me to help with the venue. I am familiar with some of Minneapolis, but no idea where to start with this. Any ideas? We are open to churches, museum or other unusual venues as well. Thank you.

The rooftop bar would be nice at Hewing. It's enclosed so available all year.
Nicollet Island Inn would be nice if it was a time it wasn't busy.
Since you mentioned churches, is your daughter a member at a church in the metro area? From my experience, churches will often let members use their fellowship halls, etc., for anniversaries and showers for free or for a very small fee. Then all you have to do is pay for a caterer.
No, unfortunately neither her or the co-host are church goers. I have been in touch with several Unitarian churches who have rooms that are reasonable so we are looking into those.
You may want to check into community centers too. I’m not sure what part of the metro your daughter lives in, but the Eagan Community Center has some lovely rooms.
How many guests are you anticipating? That might help us suggest size appropriate venues.
