Bob Vila, Alfonso Ribeiro, and the Kool aid man in a fake commercial together?
I loved this whole thing and it is one of my favorite pop culture creations for 2021.
As an 80s kid who grew up on these cheesy sitcoms, I had an absolute blast watching "Live."
Not gonna rate as it's not a movie, but I wanted to get my thoughts out there. Probably be removed by LB later anyhow.
This was definitely a fun little throw-back to the days of wholesome network television. I’m unfortunately not too familiar with either show, but this special has my interest perked.
I knew “Diff’rent Strokes” for the theme song and Gary Coleman, which was hilarious seeing his role filled by Kevin Hart. I never thought I’d see the image of him sitting on John Lithgow’s lap.
One of the best parts were the “fake” commercials done in that grainy, VHS style to mimic the quality of advertising back then and were hysterically imaginative.
A fun way to spend an hour and a half with some familiar faces playing parts of shows that no doubt had a hand in creating the ones that made them famous in the first place.
jennifer aniston and kathryn hahn breaking character and trying to hide it added 10 years to my lifespan
Ann Dowd played Mrs. Garrett with such a commitment to craft that it was fucking uncanny. Truly from facial ticks to voice inflection and modulation she owned that role.
But part of me still expected her to throw these bitches in red robes and bonnets for trying to pull one over on the men folk.
I don’t know how the Emmys work, but Ann Dowd as Mrs. Garrett and Kevin Hart as Arnold should both win one for this.
idk why they keep doing these or why they're even available to log on letterboxd but I will keep watching and keep reviewing as long as they keep happening
These shows are such a joy! And the casting was inspired as hell this time around. The Facts of Life cast was great, whether they were bringing themselves to the role or trying to call back to the original players. Are the scripts timeless? No, not really. But there is so much joy on the screen and it’s absolutely infectious.
