In Oslo, 15-year-old Mahmoud is looking forward to the summer vacation. All that’s missing is a job, money or something to do. So when his uncle arrives on a visit from Pakistan, Mahmoud takes on the task of showing him everything the capital city has to offer. At the same time, his younger brother Ali lets him in on a very personal secret, leaving Mahmoud facing the biggest test of his life to keep the family together.

I directed this… so not going to rate it. But very proud of the performances. I worked a lot to get them to where they are. Lættis film! Og en viktig en og. Det skjønte jeg spesielt når det satt en gjeng med østkantgutter i kanskje 14-15 års alderen på raden bak meg. Gjennom hele filmen kommer de med kommentarer til det som skjer: «æssjj, homo» «hadde det vært sønnen min hadde jeg spaka han ned trappa» «hæ, han ække jente han».
Assa det er akkurat denne stigmaen de prøver å sette lys på i filmen. Og disse karene her bekrefter at den fins. Ganske surrealistisk opplevelse.

It is a satire about immigration and trans children from the pov of a norwegian pakistani immigrant family. It is a family comedy drama, it is messy and uncomfortably real, and it is beautiful.
I can not think of anything playing these days with a message this clear, that doesn't treat is as a joke, that ultimately displays pure trans joy. The last movie i watched in this cinema was Barbie, the mere presence of Hari Nef made me feel wonderful, the next movie was this.

what a wonderful treat! from seeing clips on tv back when it premiered in theaters i was a bit worried about the comedy being too juvenile for my taste but i had a fantastic time actually, got me laughing out loud more than once. the story was also very touching, so cute and heartwarming! surprisingly lovely, i already had the feeling i would enjoy this but it still took me by surprise. this is a movie i would've needed when i was a kid/teen. protect trans kids!

I went to a theater in Lillestrøm, Norway today, curious about Norwegian film and movie culture. I chose Hør her’a!, and as an English-only-speaking-idiot-tourist, I understood maybe three lines of dialogue. But that did not stop me from thoroughly enjoying this film! I have a newfound appreciation for everything that goes into making a movie; all the choices made by cast and crew that are necessary to make a cohesive whole.
