Steve D The sisters Hemingway deserved better as they are doing good work. The script is so obviously written by a man, so interested in the rape and not the revenge that it lets them down. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 03/16/23 Full Review Audience Member I had recalled seeing this on TV years ago... decades ago, so upon searching for old vintage posters I came across the attractive Lipstick theater poster 14" x 36" and bought it. This lead me to look up the movie and I then realized the tragic fate of Margaux Hemingway :( I then bought the movie on iTunes and it all came back to me. I have to say the Hemingway sisters come off convincingly enough with perhaps Mariel adding the more compelling tension due her fragile age in contrast with the subject matter. Chris Sarandon is aggravatingly creepy as the sadistic rapist which is the heart of the story. I personally find it sickening that 'top critics' came down so unrealistically hard on this little revenge/personal justice flick, posing as these prudish wimps regarding such a straight forward flick... calling this movie nasty, trashy is a joke since it's so simplistic at it's core. Basically if you like 70's vibe movies, style, music and the Hemingway sisters then you might enjoy elements of this movie. The movie is not a masterpiece at all, but it's decent if you're looking for 70's pulp dramatics. The topic is serious, so (critically) perhaps this fails to really offer up a sobering dose of drama but it's no worse than Death Wish flicks and the like.
