In 2022, Kevin Williamson was interviewed by The Hollywood Reporter and shared that Dewey Riley was meant to die in Scream. Whether fans believe that Dewey's Scream (2022) death was a mistake or not, it was definitely a big moment for the franchise and proof that no one is safe from Ghostface.
It's possible that, given that Williamson has thought about major characters dying before, Sidney Prescott and Gale Weathers could be killed in Scream 7.
