Rose Anson · Lanscape & Abstract Artist

Rose Anson Abstract & Scottish Landscape Artist

A little bit about me…

I have always been interested in art and love painting seascapes. I particularly like to paint storm scenes with dark moody clouds and crashing waves. This interest is due to my fascination with the weather and its dramatic influence on the landscape.

My introduction to art was when I spent time with Jean Bell and Don McNeil in their studio in Newton in Argyll. They taught me how to express myself through my art, and how not to be afraid to be myself when I paint. That was 20 years ago and I have loved it ever since.

I see art as an expression of moods, feelings and emotions that I try to capture and express through my painting.

I work from my studio at home in Kilmarnock, and mostly paint with acrylic but also enjoy experimenting with various mixed media.

I paint directly on to canvas - building and layering the landscape until I have a completed piece of work that captures a scene or emotion of that time. I love working this way as it keeps my painting alive, new and fresh.

Sales and Commissions

I am kept busy with commissions that I receive on a regular basis. My art work is a part of me, and when people buy it and enjoy having it in their home it gives me such a sense of pride.
