Obituary for Bettye Anne “Honey” Chaffin
Bettye Anne “Honey” Chaffin, 86, of Ridgetop, passed from this life on Friday December 3, 2021, at her home. In honor of her wishes, she will be cremated, and no public services will be held. Mrs. Chaffin was born April 14, 1935, in Nashville, to the late Otis Lee and Louise Spence Mangrum. She was a retired business owner and a member of First Baptist Church in Ridgetop. Mrs. Chaffin enjoyed painting and in her younger years, playing her guitar. More than anything, Mrs. Chaffin loved the Lord, and she enjoyed being a homemaker and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was a wonderful loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband: Harold Chaffin, and by her siblings: Archie Mangrum, Garner Mangrum, and Ima Mangrum Whitlock. Mrs. Chaffin is survived by her son and daughter-in-law: Dwayne and Gail Chaffin of Joelton, by her daughters and sons-in-law: Teresa “Terri” and Gary Morris of Greenbrier, Karen and Gary Dean of Greenbrier, by her grandchildren: Rachel (Chris) Hunter, Amy (Rob) DeBerry, Daniel (Lauren) Dean, Beau (Michelle) Morris, Shelby (Taylor) Carr, by her 5 great grandchildren, by her siblings: Wayne (Joey) Mangrum of Nashville, David (Pam) Mangrum of Smyrna, Helen Sawyer of Nashville, and Laura Cole of Smyrna, by her devoted caregiver and extended family member: Keren McComas, by her sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, her late husband’s family, that she loved and cared for so much: Paula McCord, Judy (Jimmy) Adkins, Joan (Ralph) Gregory, and Neil (Sandra) Chaffin, and by several nieces, nephews, and her neighbor’s that were so dear to her.
The family wishes to extend their love and appreciation to Comfort Care Hospice for their devoted care, attention, and love for Mrs. Chaffin.

Obituary for Ester Lucille Hand
Ester Lucille Hodges Hand, age 84, of Greenbrier, passed away Sunday, December 5, 2021 at her home. Funeral services will be held Friday, December 10, 2021 at 2pm in the chapel of the Austin & Bell Funeral Home in Springfield with Pastor Jim Clark officiating. Burial will follow in the Mt. Sharon Cemetery with Bobby Hand, Jr., Mark Hand, Jr., Nick Oplinger, John Pokorny, Les Hand, and Jason Warden serving as pallbearers. Mr. Michael Hand will be an Honorary Pallbearer.
Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Thursday, December 9, 2021 from 4-8pm and again on Friday from 12pm until the hour of service at 2pm.
Mrs. Hand was born March 25, 1937 in Sumner County, TN to the late James Franklin and Sadie Pauline England Hodges. She was a homemaker and was of the Baptist Faith.
In addition to her parents Mrs. Hand is preceded in death by her husband, J.C. Hand, her son, Jimmy Dean Hand and her grandson, Matthew Hand.
Mrs. Hand is survived by her sons, Kenneth Hand, Bobby Hand, Sr., and Mark (Julie) Hand, Sr., all of Coopertown; daughter, Lisa (Brad) Oplinger of Atlanta, GA; brothers, Gordon Hodges of Portland and Doug Hodges of Bethpage; sisters, Shirley, Janie and Patty; grandchildren, Mark Jr., Bobby Jr., Linda, Ashley, Michael, Heather and Nick; and great-grandchildren, Dalton, Radley, Anna, Skylar, Journey and Haliah.

Obituary for Bobby Wayne Cobb
Bobby Wayne Cobb, age 58 of Springfield, passed away Saturday, December 4, 2021 at NorthCrest Medical Center.
A Memorial Service will be held at 7PM on Friday, December 10th at Austin & Bell Funeral Home with Pastor Robert Gardner officiating. The family will receive friends 3pm until time of service at 7pm on Friday at the funeral home.
Bobby was born in Springfield, TN on July 27, 1963 to the late Herman Horace Cobb and Charlotte Jackson Cobb.
He was a Framer in the construction industry and a member of Greater Faith Community Church in Springfield. He loved all his family very much. He also loved his friends and his Lord.
He was known as the best framer around. He enjoyed golfing, playing pool, watching sports and family gatherings. He loved his YouTube and his favorite passion was being at the race track helping with the cars and being a spotter for his driver, Ricky Sanford.
He is survived by his mother, Charlotte Jackson Cobb; sisters, Pamela Cobb, Rita (Ronnie) England, Sherry (Brent) Beadle; brother/cousin, Christopher Shawn Jackson; nephews, Kyle G. Wix, Conner R. Beadle and numerous cousins.

Obituary for Martha Ann Alley
Martha Ann Bussell Alley, age 88, of Greenbrier was called home to our Lord on Saturday, December 4, 2021. The family will receive friends from 11:00am until time of funeral service at 1:30pm Tuesday, December 7, 2021 at Austin & Bell Funeral Home, Greenbrier with Bro. Jon Briggs officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens with David Brehm, Stephen Williams, Cade McDonald, Keeton Bunn, Richard Jones, Charles Winans, Josh Magee, Wyatt Williams, Wrex Williams, Wrett Williams and Bryson Alley serving as pallbearers.
Martha was a 1949 Graduate of Greenbrier High school. She was also a member of The Greenbrier First Baptist Church. Martha was a pillar in the community and spent many hours helping anyone who may have been in need. She was the owner of Alleys Antiques and was known for her fine work refinishing antique furniture. Martha also was an account manager at Anderson/Hickey for 15 years as well as a bookkeeper for Alley’s Auction Barn. She loved her family above all and lived her life for each and every one of them.
Martha was born in Goodlettsville on January 7, 1933 to the late Henry Haskel and Pauline Porter Bussell. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Alley was also preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, Elgia Harris Alley; daughter, Carol Ann Alley; and a brothers, Johnny Bussell and Bobby Bussell.
Martha is survived by her daughter, Doris Lee Alley Brehm and husband David of Cross Plains; and a son, Edward Harris Alley of Greenbrier; grandchildren, Cari McDonald, Cacy (Stephen) Williams , Kimi Bunn and Colt Alley; great grandchildren, Alley and Cade McDonald, Destiny Sircy, Cheznie (Brandon) Searcy, Keeton Bunn, Wyatt, Wrex, Wrett and Lily Willams, Bryson and Aubrey Alley.

August 10, 1927 – December 2, 2021
William Neil “Bill” Sutherland passed away on Thursday, December 2, at age 94, in Springfield Tennessee. Bill is preceded in death by his wife Margaret Sutherland, his granddaughter Clare Sutherland, his parents Earnest and Vivian Sutherland, and his two brothers Gene and Keith Sutherland. He is survived by his large family. By his children Ann and Greg Peterson, of Gering Nebraska, Neil and Mona Sutherland, of Cedar Hill Tennessee, Jane Sutherland of Lincoln Nebraska, and George and Carol Sutherland of League City Texas. He and his wife Margaret started a large family, with thirteen grandchildren and twenty-six great-grandchildren scattered from Nebraska, Kansas, Colorado, Texas, Tennessee, and Massachusetts. A memorial service will be held at Trinity Episcopal Church, 410 N. Pine Street, Florence Alabama, on Sunday December 19 at 1:30 pm. Funeral services are being provided by Austin & Bell Funeral Home, of Springfield TN. Honorary pallbearers for the service will include lifelong friends Scotty Bobo, Kris Engelstad, Steve Engelstad, and Marty Engelstad. Born on August 10, 1927, on a small farm near Adel Iowa, he saw a great deal of life in his 94 years. Born to Earnest Morris Sutherland and Vivian Martha Sutherland, and a family of older brothers Gene and Keith, he grew up during the depression years and WWII. No indoor plumbing in the home, farming with horses, and picking corn by hand was typical of life on an Iowa farm. Educated at Washington Township Consolidated, where he was confident that he was in the top ten of his graduating class. “There were only eleven of us in the graduating class,” he once said, “and I knew I just had to be smarter than at least one of them.” Like his brothers before him, he enlisted in the military, serving in the Navy when his turn came near the end of WWII. “It’s just what we all did,” he would say. He was home on leave from the Navy when he learned of the death of President Roosevelt. “I was digging a ditch by hand for a water line from the windmill to the house, when Mom came out to tell me the news she heard on the radio.” That was how he learned of that historic event, and the first time there was running water in the home.
Upon the close of WWII, thoughts turned to his future. Bill enrolled at Iowa State University and earned a BS in Farm Operations in 1950. He earned an MS in Soil Management in 1954, and ultimately a PhD in Soil Fertility in 1960. While in graduate programs, he worked as a youth assistant in the Iowa Extension Service, and as a soil conservation Agent in the Minnesota Extension Service. Upon completing his PhD, Bill joined the National Fertilizer Development branch of Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA). Starting with TVA in Knoxville, TN and Florence AL, he introduced TVA fertilizer production and use technology. Upon relocation to Lincoln, NE in 1964 he served as Program Director in several states in the Midwest, Great Plains, and Rocky Mountains. He served as an agronomist on a joint TVA/ State Department team in Viet Nam in 1967, studying projected nutrient needs for crop production in several Southeast Asian countries. Relocating to Muscle Shoals AL headquarters in 1978 he served as branch agronomist and assistant chief for TVA’s national programs in soils management, land use, and development of markets for high value crops. Bill retired from TVA and sunset his highly accomplished career in 1988. He spent his career figuring out how to feed the world.
Along the way Bill met a very nice young lady named Margaret Fowler in an Iowa State chemistry class they shared. After an hour exam he took the opportunity to introduce himself to her, and the conversation reportedly was rather awkward as she had done poorly on the exam. Of course, he had aced the test and was in a great mood. Yet somehow he persevered in the conversation, she agreed to a first date, a second, a third, and finally he and Margaret Diantha Fowler were married in September of 1949.They were inseparable, and their love story lasted 65 years until her death in 2015. Now they are reunited, and have picked up right where they left off. Four children were born: Ann Leslie in 1951, Neil Rockwell in 1953, Jane Elizabeth in 1955, and George Duncan in 1958. They started off their family life in Iowa, moved to Rochester, Minnesota, and upon completing his PhD joined Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA) and relocated to Knoxville TN in 1960, to Florence AL in 1962, and Lincoln NE in 1964. His final assignment with TVA brought him back to Florence, Alabama in 1978 where he and Margaret lived their lives woven deeply into the fabric of the community. Bill was a long-time member of Trinity Episcopal Church in Florence, Alabama, serving as Junior Warden for several years. He spent many days volunteering and working for the Habitat for Humanity ReStore, helping people in need to improve their housing. Bill was also a very active member of the Florence Exchange club, sponsoring many projects and serving as President.
Bill and Margaret lived their lives with a high sense of travel, adventure, and learning. A love of the outdoors often combined these things, where family vacations would be four kids and a dog in a station wagon, pulling a pop-up camper with a rowboat on top. Off to adventure to camp for a few weeks in the North woods of Minnesota or Canada, the Rocky Mountains, or even the Gulf Coast and down to the Florida Keys. Bill raised his two sons pheasant hunting, and spent many weekends freezing in a tent on a boy scout campout during Nebraska winters. With retirement came the love of travel in a motor home, and he and Margaret traveled extensively across all fifty states, including two extended road trips to Alaska, to the Canadian maritime provinces, and even deep into Mexico inside the Sea of Cortez. They placed a special focus on spending time with their many grandchildren along the way. Nothing delighted the grandkids more than seeing their grandfather back their large motor home into the driveway with a smile and a hug. Several extended tours of Europe and the British Isles in England, Ireland, and of course Scotland. Bill and Margaret were touring France when 9/11 struck and changed our history. Not able to fly home, they spent several days in a hotel awaiting the chance to return home. He was accosted by a hotel employee, who asked if he was an American. When he acknowledged that he was, the woman looked at him and said, in rough English, “but you saved us.” Bill just replied “well, we saved each other.” She wept and swept he and Margaret into a long warm hug. Bill had a unique ability to connect with people, from boardroom executives in agri-business to housekeepers in a Parisian hotel. As lifelong learners, they frequently included an “Elderhostel” on their travels. These were week-long courses, typically taught by a university, where they immersed in history and culture of an area. From the history of NW Washington in Bellingham WA, to British history in Nova Scotia, to Cajun culture in Lake Charles, Louisiana they broadened their worldview and love of people from all walks of life and locations. Bill was highly intelligent, and extremely well versed in a broad range of subjects. Always a tall stack of books near at hand, he could discuss at depth anything from the development of mechanized farming, US and world history, world economics, and politics. If you ever disagreed with him in a frequent post-dinner discussion one quickly learned that you had better have your facts straight, because you could be sure his were. Yet he was always gracious about it.
Bill leaves us with quite a legacy, one rich in the people left behind and the values he imparted. We’ll always smile when we think of his big heart, with a soft spot for kids and dogs, his big laugh, his generosity, and his big hands. He left behind an unshakable set of values that that taught us many things. To value all people. To get yourself educated in whatever you choose, and never stop learning. To work really hard, and be really, really good at whatever you choose. He once said “if you want to be a ditch digger, fine. Just make sure you are a really good ditch digger.” To love people, love your wife, and love your family. To get out on the open road with your window down. And always carry a pocketknife. Bill was dearly loved and is missed by a great many people.

Obituary for Darrell Ray Osborn
Darrell R. Osborn passed away on December 1, 2021. He was born on July 1, 1959 in Orleans, France, but grew up in Trenton, KY. He was predeceased by his parents, Annie Elizabeth Newcomb Osborn and James Richard Osborn. Survivors include his beloved wife, Stephanie Anne Gannaway Osborn, originally of Cunningham, TN, whom he married on June 18, 1983. Other survivors include his brother James Osborn, brother Will Osborn, sister Carol Ann Osborn Manley, and their families, including many nieces and nephews.
Darrell worked as a Senior Graphic Artist and Illustrator for Teledyne Brown Engineering where he was employed for 34 years. He also created imaginative cover art for numerous publishing houses and authors, including his wife.
Prior to Teledyne Brown Engineering, Darrell worked at Opryland for 3 years where he worked in Live Entertainment as both a tech and a live performer, often wielding puppets during the various stage shows.
He volunteered at the Fantasy Playhouse, Theatre Huntsville, Huntsville Community Chorus, and more, where he designed and built sets for productions and plays, applied special-effects makeup, and often appeared in the shows. He also did special-effects makeup for commercials in Nashville, TN, where at least one won a Clio, the industry equivalent of an Oscar.
Darrell was a well-known local celebrity in the U.S. Southeast, where he performed as Doctor Osborn. His magic shows, comedy and “Balloons of Doom” brought smiles to countless children and adults throughout the southeast for decades. He also won awards for magic, comedy, and ventriloquism.
Darrell’s contagious humor, boundless creativity and fun-loving attitude will be greatly missed by all who met him.
A Memorial Service was held on Tuesday, December 7th at Legacy Chapel Funeral Home and Crematory in Madison, AL.
The family will receive friends at Louise United Methodist Church (4861 Louise Road, Cumberland Furnace, TN 37051) on Saturday, December 11th, from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM. The funeral will be held at 1:00 PM at the church, with burial to follow afterward in the Church cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the American Heart Association.

Mary Ann Glidewell Browning, 87, of Cross Plains, passed from this life on Thursday December 2, 2021, at her home.

Mrs. Browning was born April 1, 1934, in Cross Plains, to the late Ewell and Priscilla Swann Glidewell. She was a retired clerk with the ASCS Office and was a member of Milldale Presbyterian Church. Mrs. Browning loved watching basketball and football. She was an avid Tennessee Titans fan and U.T. Vols fan, especially the Lady Vols Basketball team. More than anything else, she loved spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband: Richard Browning, and by her siblings: Tim Glidewell and Bertha Campbell. Mrs. Browning is survived by her daughter and son-in-law: Ann Beth and Harold Pearson of Cross Plains, by her son: Robert Ewell Browning of Mt. Juliet, by her grandchildren: Nicole Jones and husband Barry, Daniel Pearson and wife Shanda, by her great grandchildren: Nataleigh Pearson, Braden Jones, Faith Pearson, and Knox Jones, and by her beloved cat: Callie.

Paul Wisener, age 79 of Springfield, passed from this life on Tuesday, November 30, 2021 at NHC Healthcare in Springfield.
Funeral services will be conducted Sunday, December 5, 2021 at 4:00 PM in the Oakhurst Chapel of Robertson County Funeral Home with Bro. Marvin Crouch officiating. Interment service will be Monday, December 6, 2021 at 11:00 AM in Springfield Memorial Gardens with Dale Swearingen officiating. Pallbearers will be John Wisener, Gabe Wisener, Connor Wisener, Cole Chaudoin, Michael Ashburn, Daniel Ashburn, Dale Swearingen, Jim Wisener, Jesse Wisener, and Bob Bruce. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Sunday from 1 PM until the hour of service. There will be no visitation on Monday prior to the burial service.
Paul was born October 27, 1942 in Nashville to the late James William and Martha Ann Scales Wisener. He was a member of Orlinda Church of Christ and was a lifelong 3rd generation dairy farmer, which was the life he dreamed of. He was a hard worker, having moved to Springfield from Antioch in 1973. He loved his family and his church.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of almost 59 years Gayle Chapman Wisener, who died in October of this year; brothers, Buster and Billy Wisener; and sister, Thelma Clark.
He is survived by his sons and daughter-in-law, Steven Brent and Amy Wisener of Springfield; daughters and sons-in-law, Sherri Lynn and John Ashburn of Lafayette and Vicki Denise and Robert Chaudoin of Bowling Green, KY; brothers and sisters-in-law, Jesse and Pat Wisener of Christiana and Jim and Julie Wisener of Antioch; sisters and brothers-in-law, Mary Ellen Wayman of Antioch, Jane and Roger McMurtry of Livingston, Sally and Tom Thomas of Ormond Beach, FL, and Dot and Bill LeVaugh of Pace, FL; grandchildren and spouses, Gabe and Meredith Wisener, Connor and Sutton Wisener, Cole Chaudoin, Kate Chaudoin, Daniel Ashburn, Michael Ashburn, Jamie Ashburn, and Emily Ashburn; and great grandson, Cale Wisener.

Harold Benjamin Corlew “Dixie”, age 78 of Pleasant View, Tennessee, died Thursday, December 2, 2021 at The Residence of Alive Hospice in Nashville.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00PM on Monday, December 6th, at Austin & Bell Funeral Home in Pleasant View with Bro. Gene Parton officiating. Burial will follow in Mallory’s Cemetery in Chapmansboro with Chad Corlew, Santiago Cirilo, Cade Corlew, Ricky Knox, John Carr, Dale Shearon,and Phil Welker serving as pallbearers.

Mr. Corlew was born on August 19, 1943 in Clarksville, Tennessee to the late Harry & Gladys Shepard Corlew. He started a career at State Industries and then a supervisor at KFC manufacturing. He worked several years at East Montgomery Utilities where he retired. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving during the Vietnam war. In his younger years he enjoyed bird hunting, square dancing, drag racing, and tobacco farming. He also played softball in the military. Mr. Corlew spent time playing golf and fishing and he loved to watch western movies. He never met a stranger and loved his family, most especially his grandchildren. He was of the Baptist Faith.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his sister, Ronnie Adkins.
He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Patsy Knox Corlew; son, Chad Corlew; daughter, Misty Corlew-Cirilo (Santiago); and grandchildren, Cade Corlew, Jaycee Corlew, and Haven Cirilo.

Brenda was born in Nashville, TN on August 28, 1948 to the late Thomas Edward, Sr and Regina Joyce West Hughes. She was also preceded in death by her husband James Ezra Shoemaker, Jr and her first husband, Gerald Peter Pash.
Brenda and Jim owned and operated Shoemakers Equipment Service where she was the bookkeeper.
Together they ran a very successful business. She dearly loved and adored her husband Jim very much. She also loved her family very much. She enjoyed helping others and that was what brought her the most joy. She enjoyed traveling extensively with Jim, loved listening to music and singing as well. Sewing was a big part of her early life.
She is survived by daughter, Jennifer Lynn Pash of Erin, TN; brother, Thomas Edward Jr. (Karen) Hughes of Brunswick, GA; sister, Lisa Anne (John) Allen of Springfield; grandchildren, Ryan Taylor (Hannah) Bagwell, Garrett Mitchell Abbott; great-grandchildren, Dani Leigh Bagwell, Weston Pratt Bagwell and Deklan James Bagwell.

Age 81 of White House passed away Tuesday, November 30, 2021 at his home. He was born October 29, 1940 in Nashville, TN to James Vaughn & Sophia Susko McCormack. He worked as a carpenter until his retirement. Mr. McCormack enjoyed playing and watching poker games, visiting casinos, gambling, watching football, westerns and game shows, especially Jeopardy.
He is preceded in death by his parents; one sister; his lifelong companion, Goldie Nicholson. He is survived by his step-sons, Mike Nicholson, Hendersonville and Ricky Nicholson, Cottontown, TN; step-daughters, Kathy Nicholson, Cottontown, TN and Billie (Ray) Hampton, Goodlettsville, TN; 10 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren.
Funeral service is scheduled for Saturday, December 11, 2021 at 11AM in the chapel of Austin and Bell Funeral Home in White House with Bro. Dennis Wallace officiating. Age 82 of Goodlettsville passed away Tuesday, November 30, 2021 at Hendersonville Medical Center. She was born April 16, 1939 to Henry Seay & Norma Pauline England Crawford in Simpson County, KY. She worked as a bookkeeper for Ridgetop Haven Nursing Home before her retirement and was a member of Gideon United Methodist Church. She played high school basketball and still enjoyed watching basketball games. She loved her husband more than anything else in the world. She enjoyed crafting, sewing, cross stitch and was an absolutely wonderful cook. She and her husband enjoyed traveling the country and all over the world. They especially enjoyed their trip to the Holy Land.
She is preceded in death by her mother; husband, Coy Parchman; brother, Lee Crawford. She is survived by her sons, Tim Parchman, Goodlettsville, TN and Greg Parchman, Nashville, TN; brothers, Ray Crawford and Junior Crawford, both of TN; grandson, Brandson (Molly) Parchman, Goodlettsville, TN; great-grandchildren, Madalynn Parchman and Journee Parchman, both of Goodlettsville, TN.

Shirley Jo Shepard Hester, 82, of the Owens Chapel community in Springfield, passed from this life on Sunday November 28, 2021, at TriStar NorthCrest Medical Center.
Graveside services were conducted Thursday December 2nd at 12 noon in the Owens Chapel Cemetery with Brother Bob Filson officiating. Pallbearers were Jason Hester, Blake Hester, Kyle Hester, Jay Hester, Dusty Davis, and Timo Johnson. The family received friends on Wednesday from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the Robertson County Funeral Home. There will be no visitation on Thursday prior to the graveside service.
Mrs. Hester was born February 12, 1939, in the Stroudsville community. She was a retired seamstress with Acme Boot Company and was a member of Owens Chapel United Methodist Church. Mrs. Hester enjoyed fishing, crocheting, reading, and working puzzles. She was preceded in death by her father: Samuel Franklin Shepard, by her husband: Willard Delvin Hester, Sr., by her brothers: Frank and Donald Ray Shepard, and by her sister: Faye Johnson.

Mark Evan Powell, 81, of Adams, passed away on Sunday November 28, 2021, at TriStar NorthCrest Medical Center.
Graveside services were conducted Wednesday December 1st at 11:00 a.m. in the Bellwood Cemetery in Adams with Reverend Tyler Estep officiating. Pallbearers were Daniel Willis, Michael Neblett, Marshall Neblett, Josh Bagby, David Eden, Coby Traughber, and Jesse Powell. There was no visitation prior to the graveside service.
Mr. Powell was born April 25, 1940, in Los Angeles, CA to the late Roy Sinclair and Edith Irene Gorsuch Powell. He was retired from the construction business and from farming. Mr. Powell owned and operated Appel Dell Farm for many years. He enjoyed bear hunting, fishing, and spending time with his grandchildren. Mr. Powell was a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served in Germany.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife: Vernice Scott Powell. Obituary for Carolynn (Benning) Leedy
If you were a visible speck of dirt that somehow found your way into Carolynn Leedy’s house at 202 Bell Lane in Springfield, Tennessee, one thing you could be sure of is that your term of residence there would be extremely short! Her immaculate house was universally admired, and somehow she kept it that way without stressing over it or showing the least frown when a guest made a little mess. Apparently she just enjoyed another opportunity to clean something up!
Carolynn was born as Katherine Kleckner on November 11, 1937, in Mansfield, Ohio, in the most deplorable situation imaginable. At about age 4, by God’s grace, she was rescued and adopted, along with her two older siblings, by Edward August and Hazel Blunt Benning, who renamed her Carolynn Elizabeth. Her siblings were renamed Edward Glenn and Madelyn Helen; their present circumstances are unknown. After her graduation from Mansfield Sr. High School, a brief marriage produced a daughter, Stephanie Ann (married Randy McElvain, now deceased) of Mansfield. She remarried on February 23, 1957, to Danny Ray Leedy of Mansfield, to whom she bore Valerie Kaye (married Kevin D. Elston), of Knightdale, North Carolina, and Randy Alan Leedy (married Katie J. Rymer), of Greenville, South Carolina. She was preceded in death by both parents and her husband. All her issue survives her, including seven grandchildren and five great grandchildren, with a sixth not yet born.
Through the faithful witness of Homer Vian, Danny and Carolynn both came to see themselves as sinners under the righteous condemnation of God and trusted Jesus Christ as their savior and redeemer, joining the Mansfield Baptist Temple. Transfers by Danny’s employer (Tappan Co.) relocated the couple in 1977 to Dalton, Georgia, and then in 1994 to Springfield, Tennesse, where they became members of South Haven Baptist Church.
After two years of declining health in Springfield and four months in skilled nursing care in Greenville, South Carolina, Carolynn passed into the presence of Jesus her savior on November 26, 2021. Her life’s story, from beginning to end, is one of the saving and keeping grace of God in Jesus Christ, to whom be all the glory!
Visitation will be at 9:30 a.m. on Monday, December 6, in the main auditorium of South Haven Baptist Church, 116 Academy Dr., Springfield, Tennessee 37172. The funeral service follows at 11:00 a.m, with Dr. Frank Gagliano officiating. The service will be Livestreamed at SHBCministries.org/live. (Note that the service time is 12:00 noon for viewers on Eastern Time.) Interment will be in Elmwood Cemetery following a private graveside service. Mrs. Honeycut was born June 29, 1935 in Lufkin, TX to the late Ray and Sara Rose Ella Carroll Oliver. She was of the Baptist faith and was a Christian. She retired as a secretary for a real estate firm in Texas. She loved spending time with her family and thrilled to be able to live long enough to see her great grandchildren. She also enjoyed watching westerns. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by 2 brothers and a sister.
Mrs. Dolores is survived by her sons and daughter-in-law, Henry Keith and Victoria L. Vickery of Greenbrier and Rickard K. Mr. Wilbourn is survived by his wife of 45 years, Elizabeth Wilbourn; daughters, Catherine “Cathy” Wilbourn and Jennifer Zawatski; brothers, Wendell “Wade” Wilbourn and Keith (Connie) Wilbourn; sisters, Cynthia “Cindy” (Todd) Albright and Diane Vallejo; and grandchildren, Jenza Faulk and Gauge Wilbourn.

Mr. O’Guin was born on January 25, 1958 in Nashville, Tennessee to Hollis & LaVyrne O’Guin. He earned the rank of Eagle Scout and was a veteran of the U.S. Army.

Arrangements for Sylvia Paulette Traughber
Sylvia Paulette Traughber was born June 24, 1949. She was the cherished second born to the late Cecil and Frances Traughber. She departed this life on Friday, November 19, 2021, at the Waters of Robertson.
Paulette, as she was affectionately known by family and friends, accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized at St. John United Methodist Church. She loved her St. John Family and they loved her. She was proud to be a member of and enjoyed singing in the choir. She was a faithful member until health issues prevented her from attending services.
Paulette received her education though the 11th grade at Bransford High School. She was the first African American female to graduate from Springfield High School as a member of the Class of 1967. After high school she attended Tennessee State University. It was during her time there that she developed health issues that would plague her throughout her life.
Paulette had a sweet disposition and was loved by her family, former classmates, and all who knew her. Growing up, she was the apple of her parent’s eye and remained a Daddy’s girl her whole life. She was a devoted caretaker to her mother throughout her terminal illness. She had a special place in her heart for children and loved to bring smiles to their faces. She had a giving heart and always had gifts for her little cousins. She enjoyed watching football on TV. Her favorite teams were the Pittsburgh Steelers and the Tennessee Titans.
Paulette is preceded in death by her older brother, Donald Ray Traughber. Paulette and Donnie had a special relationship. She adored her big brother and they remained close until death parted them.
She leaves to cherish her memories: her devoted cousins, Cathy Payne Ford, Patricia Flint, Judy Jordan, Lisa Savage, James Gardner, Teresa Gardner and Sonya Gardner; caretaker, Joseph Smith, and a host of other cousins, family and friends.

He was truly a peacemaker and always a source of positivity. Jason also had a deep love for animals. He was incredibly patient with children and many people would even say he was a child at heart. He never knew a stranger and would always make you feel welcomed. He loved fiercely and deeply and we take comfort in knowing that Jason is now at peace surrounded by light.

He worked as a sprinkler fitter for the Sprinkler Fitters Union #669 before his retirement. He enjoyed spending time with his family and was the Rock of the family and the one everyone went to for advice. He enjoyed gardening, taking care of his lawn and watching westerns. He always knew how to make people smile and enjoyed being a constant aggravation, picking on the ones he loved and telling jokes.
