Definitely not what I was expecting! I love Emma and Ryan together but the storylines were a bit drawn out and disappointingly difficult to follow. Some of the musical numbers/dream sequences felt out of place and over the top, sending the audience out of La La Land. I did really like the jazz coming into a new generation and John Legend's music! This movie was really good but not not great.

Best movie. Best storyline, best visuals, best music, best storytelling. It is and will forever be my favourite. I love that this love story doesn't have a happy ending and growing up and maturing after being destroyed by it, it was actually for the better. :)

For a film set in and around Hollywood, this movie surprises even shocks the audience offering an unexpected and to many an unhappy Hollywood ending - a Sliding Door "alternative take montage" presents what could have been and for many what should have been outcome. Personally as painful as the looks upon our leading characters' faces in the closing shot, the film captures the conflict of personal passions in a tug-of-war against the pursuit of love. Can our protagonists have both love of career and love for another from "the one" or does "the one" get away? Here's to the fools who dream!
