Christian-Albrechts-Universität zu Kiel

Kiel University (CAU) was founded back in 1665. It is Schleswig-Holstein's oldest, largest and best-known university, with 27,000 students and around 3,700 members of staff. It is also the only fully-fledged university in the state. Seven Nobel prize winners have worked here. The CAU has been successfully taking part in the Excellence Initiative since 2006.

International Center

The CAU’s International Center (IC) maintains the university’s international relationships and is the place to go for any issues related to university partnerships and international contacts. The center looks after foreign researchers and provides advice. It can also answer questions or help anyone who is interested in spending time studying or going on a work experience placement abroad.

The CAU is part of the European University of the Seas (SEA-EU) - a super-campus that stretches from the Mediterranean to the Arctic Circle. Nine universities located on European coastlines work together in an ambitious endevour to facilitate an increased exchange of cultures, knowledge and experience. As part of the SEA-EU alliance, CAU helps to create a sustainable and resilient future that benefits our oceans, our planet and the progress of all.
