He married Dagny Ulrichsen on 22 May 1920, in Audnedal, Vest-Agder, Norway. They were the parents of at least 2 sons and 1 daughter. He immigrated to New York City, New York, United States in 1948 and lived in Gjerpen, Bratsberg, Norway in 1900. He died on 9 March 1959, in Oslo, Norway, at the age of 69, and was buried in Oslo, Norway.
