Biochemistry at Kalamazoo College
New in fall 2021, a biochemistry major at Kalamazoo College will provide a foundation for graduate studies and careers in the health sciences such as medicine, veterinary medicine, dentistry, pharmacy and toxicology. Biochemists work in private industries, pharmaceutical and government labs, and higher education to raise the world’s understanding of the biological processes fundamental to life.

If you want to be academically challenged, study-abroad, and graduate from an excellent institution with world-class connections, then Kalamazoo College is your school. The structure of the school is a trimester system in which you'll have 10-weeks to complete your courses. Your first semesters will feel hectic, but you only take three classes at a time and the professors are there to help you adapt to the 10-week system. The largest class size you'll be in is roughly 20-25 students, allowing for plenty of time both during class and out of class to work with your professor one-on-one. K's study-abroad program, which is built into your Junior year at K, is unmatched. ALL JUNIORS for (mostly) no additional cost, can study abroad in Europe, East Asia, Africa, and or even Australia for up to a whole year. If you can't afford studying abroad, just let the CIP know and the college will move mountains and rivers to make it happen. At K, you get more in four and more in a lifetime!
My overall experience at Kalamazoo College has been incredibly enriching and fulfilling. From the moment I stepped onto campus, I felt a sense of belonging and community. The small class sizes fostered a supportive learning environment where I could engage deeply with my professors and peers. The liberal arts curriculum encouraged me to explore a wide range of subjects, allowing me to discover new passions and interests. Whether it was through rigorous academic coursework, meaningful extracurricular activities, or thought-provoking discussions in the dorms, I constantly found opportunities for personal and intellectual growth. Furthermore, the campus culture at Kalamazoo College is vibrant and inclusive. I've had the chance to participate in a variety of clubs, organizations, and cultural events that have broadened my perspective and enriched my college experience. Overall, my time at Kalamazoo College has been wonderful.
K college has top-notched faculty members who actually care about students' success. I really enjoyed my time at school and will always think of K college fondly. The students are intellectual and friendly. Great experience overall!
