Bears in bottom half of league in Madden 22 team ratings

The Bears were given somewhat unfavorable ratings in the upcoming Madden game.

Despite coming off of their second playoff appearance in three years, the Bears weren’t favorably rated in EA Sports’ upcoming Madden NFL 22 video game.

EA Sports recently released both their team ratings and player ratings for the game, which will be released Aug. 20 for next-gen and current-gen consoles. The Bears find themselves in the bottom half of the league in terms of overall ranking, placing 21st with a 79 overall rating. Though they have the third-best defense with an 87 overall unit, their team rating is dragged down by a sixth-worst 73 overall offense.

Given the lack of proven star power on the Bears’ offense, said rankings feel pretty appropriate. With young players at many key positions on that unit, it seems fair to give them a lower rating until they have proven themselves more at the NFL level.

These are the 10 highest-rated players on the Bears’ roster in the upcoming Madden game, including a few players whose ratings may surprise you:

Rookie quarterback Justin Fields places at 74 overall, two notches above veteran Andy Dalton at 72. Other notable Bears players outside the top 10 include Teven Jenkins at 70, Darnell Mooney at 77, Jaylon Johnson at 77 and Robert Quinn at 76.

Here is a more in-depth description of Fields’ categorical ratings:

The defending champion Buccaneers have the highest team overall in the game at 92. Though the Packers are ahead of the Bears with an 89 overall, Chicago stills finds themselves ahead of the Vikings and Lions, who currently have overalls of 78 and 74, respectively.
