1960s siren Julie Christie: See the bombshell actress then and now

In the 1960s, British actress Julie Christie rose to fame as one of the world's most lusted-after bombshells. The leading lady of "Doctor Zhivago" and "Fahrenheit 451," Christie was not only a knockout -- she had major talent to boot.

And, of course, with fame came Hollywood glamour: Christie began dating iconic playboy Warren Beatty, who would later call her "the most beautiful and at the same time the most nervous person I had ever known." She also impressed Al Pacino, who described her as "the most poetic of all actresses," and struck up a friendship with a young Goldie Hawn.

Oh, by the way: Christie won an Academy Award for Best Actress in 1966 -- and was nominated for the exact same award forty years later. No big deal.

Although she doesn't work as often as she did in the '60s and '70s -- she is 79 years old now, after all! -- she's continued to land high-profile roles in recent years. Before her stellar performance in "Away From Her," she earned critical acclaim in "Finding Neverland" and played Madam Rosmerta in "Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban."

Christie's most recent film role was in 2012. She's married to British journalist Duncan Campbell.
