The Office stars reunite and try to sleep together in new commercial

Rainn Wilson, Jenna Fischer, Craig Robinson, Brian Baumgartner, Kate Flannery, and Creed Bratton appear together in a new AT&T ad.

Dunder Mifflin’s finest are back in business with a new startup.

AT&T has reassembled The Office stars Rainn Wilson, Craig Robinson, Jenna Fischer, Kate Flannery, Brian Baumgartner, and Creed Bratton for a new commercial for the company’s AT&T Business Next Level Network.

The ad sees the six reunited Office actors playing versions of themselves, rather than reprising their characters from the hit NBC sitcom. The general premise is that Wilson, who played Dwight Schrute on the workplace comedy, is launching a small business called “Sleep With Rain” with which he hopes to help customers sleep soundly through the night. “For years, my voice has been putting people to sleep — my mom, my wife, my therapist — so I decided to cash in,” he jokes.

The ad then reveals its fake product: a custom pillow with two speakers that play audio of Wilson narrating sleep meditations.

Robinson, who played Darryl Philbin on the series, arrives in the office, which looks somewhat similar to the Scranton workplace from the show. “Rainn-bow, ready for launch?” he asks his former costar. Fischer, who portrayed Pam Beesley, shows up with balloons in hand. “Happy launch day!”

Wilson speaks to the camera with an over-the-top confidence that echoes Dwight’s throughout the series. “By bringing more sleep to the world, I may just bring about world peace,” he says dramatically. Fischer and Robinson then introduce themselves as the social media manager and chief technology officers of Sleep With Rain.

Later, Baumgartner, who played dimwitted accountant Kevin Malone, is introduced as the head of product, followed by Flannery (described as “the fixer”) who parallels her character Meredith Palmer’s crude disregard for her coworkers. “I don’t care about the pillow,” she says. “I’m just here for the internets.”

Robinson reveals that he locked all the employees out of the most important room of the office in the name of “cybersecurity,” and the team makes a number of half-witted attempts to break back into the room, including smacking it with pillows, shooting it with a T-shirt cannon, and eventually launching a pillow-covered Robinson through the door, which ultimately knocks it open.

The effort, however, blows out the electricity in the room, and someone yells, “Who turned the lights off?”: Bratton, revealing that he was inside the locked room the entire time. Flannery notes that they can still launch the site using AT&T Internet Backup.

The ad concludes with the six former cast members looking exhausted as they rest on the company’s pillows, some of them seemingly mere seconds from falling asleep. “Soon the whole world will be sleeping with Rainn,” Wilson says.

The Office ran for nine seasons on NBC from 2005 to 2013. Since the original show concluded, rumors have persistently circulated that the series may receive a revival. Co-creator Greg Daniels  indicated that there was nothing to announce in October 2023; however, THR reported that Daniels was in the process of assembling a writers’ room for an Office-related project in January.
